I was wondering what the population of Earth would be if it was as dense as Vancouver's West End. Don't ask me why I thought of it, but I decided to figure it out myself.
If all the land area on our planet (148,939,100 km² according to Wikipedia) was as densely populated as the West End (2.04 km² and 42,120 people according to the 2001 Census), the planet would have a population of approximately 3,075,154,358,823 people.
That's over 3 TRILLION.

we could always use another planet for food production
Underground food vats and orbitting food and industrial facilities could easily keep people fed and clothed. Although we'd need a series of space elevators around the equator to really make space import/export economical. That and massive constantly running teraformers to keep the air breathable. Although I'm not sure why or what the point of such a world would be. Also with such technology, we could easily drain or vent off the oceans or simply build on/under them, so boost your population count up to include that. Then maybe x5 it for underground living. Sadly this isn't some computer space strategy game where your production/economy is based off your population. Such a hive would be a liability, a drain, not a power-house.

Flash backs of Isaac Asimov's "Foundation" series of books.. ie: Trantor, the main planet is covered with buildings and everything is artificial.

Yeah. With three trillion people living on earth, odds are, there'll be a couple of scientific geniuses that could do that.
