Hi everyone! When will construction start on the office portion of the wachovia project? Also, any ideas on when construction will start on the museums such as the african american cultural center , the mint and the art museum? Thanks in advance for the info:)

Construction has started on all of these projects. There is a huge hole for the Wachovia project w/ a crane, and they've started pouring concrete for the foundation. The AACC has a crane and is underway. I believe they are on schedule to open on time.

What part of the project is the crane on the webcam for? Also are you sure that the AACC has broken ground yet because on their website it says that it will break ground in december 2007?

That crane is for the Wachovia office/condo portion of the project. I am positive the AACC has broken ground. They are currently working on the foundation, building a tunnel under the AACC to the Wach site. There is a crane on site. I have some pics:

I thought that the office tower and condo were two different towers. Shouldn't they both have a crane?

The office tower, condo tower, and Mint Museum is one big footprint, taking up a whole city block. The foundation is being built right now. They're not at the point of having individual cranes for each tower yet.

The Wachovia tower, condo tower and all the arts projects comes to 800 million dollars. So this is a big project on South Tryon Street.

The rumors are hot and heavy about Trump right now too...he might be neighbors with this project before long.

That Wachovia tower is really hot! I love it! Maybe I'm a little biased being that I work for Wachovia though :)

I love the Wachovia tower, it will add a lot to the skyline. The condo tower... eh it is just another Avenue/Vue/Trademark bland blue glass box. I thought an early rendering/description of the condo tower was like a taller version of Radcliffe at the Green, which would be hot. By the way, what is it with new condo towers and being real ugly one one side? Courtside, Trademark in Charlotte, and Spire in Atlanta to name a few.

Courtside and Trademark are both boulevard centro towers. I agree that Courtside's backside leaves something to be desired, but the backside of Trademark has grown on me. It's far from perfect, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be, and it actually lights up nicely at night, adding a change-up to the skyline.
