Hi all.
We all know Chi is our big city, so what is your favourite building? Please include reasons why?
I like 2 Pru but I think it is way too close to AON. It would have been nice if it were in the central loop - sort of a pointy building among the masses, to break up the skyline. Sears is a fav, as is big John and AON for their sheer size if nothing else. I also like the slender Water Tower building.
Chicago is amazing, skyscrapers no less. :worship:
..... .......
By the way, I will most likely be moving to Chicago permanently soon (this commuting from Seattle/Vancouver is getting sort of old now).
I can't wait, Chi is one of my top 3 cities in the world!

There's so many quality ones, but to pick one it's got to be John Hancock. Big, brawny, cool, slightly industrial, and not afraid to show its structure. John just is Chicago to me.

My vote goes to the Reliance Building because it's a sharp-looking building that has lots of historical significance.

I like the details, angles, and the tower with the clock. In all, it is a great piece of architecture and art.

The Merc, 10 and 30 S Wacker. Nothing special about it other than I used to work there.

Carbide and Carbon. I love that whole corner right there around the river and Michigan Ave. with all of the old buildings. When I'm there I KNOW I'm in Chicago.

The Aon Center.
It reminds me of the World trade center towers.

Based on looks my favorite is the amoco building because its so big but unassuming as if to say "i know im the shit, i dont gotta say it." which to an extent is indicative of the typical chicagoans personality.
but out of just sheer visceral enjoyment its gotta be the sears tower which is the biggest mf in the country and will continue to be until the spire gets built (im not counting the ft because they have to use a hood ornament to get taller)
