Here ya go. Enjoy debating the use of this green space.

I really think that the color of the park itself makes it worth being there on it's own. Half a block is very little to spare for trees and a lawn, but I'm not going to chime in on this discussion.

I like it as a park, but it should be pretty much overhauled.
Small building at the back with a nice cafe or two.
Dog Park.
Plaza with a fountain and large seating area to act as a meeting place.
Maybe a small shop (ala Starbucks) on Peachtree.
Blend the urban necessity with the park potential.

I think they should use the land to connect both sides of 5th St.

What do you mean "connect both sides of 5th Street?"

Also, how can people say that dogs like grass, but live in city condos, where (almost) everything there paws touch is concrete. It should be common sense that dogs and people shouldn't coexist in the city, the suburbs with big lawns are a more suitable environment. So when that lots get developed, (which it will) what are you going to do then? Just let your dogs shit all over the city, and have it smelling like a sepic tank. Think about it.
Dogs have rights, too. They threw in their lot with us humans long ago and they are stakeholders in this city just as much as anyone else.
It would be a sad city indeed that doesn't provide for its canine citizens. I still say the best solution is a midrise building with dog-friendly stores and/or cafes at street level, and a small discreet park for the dogs.

Andrea, you nailed it, that's the market. Let's see if ATT can find a developer.

I think what we all really wanted was for Bellsouth to have left that area as random empty lot. That would be the ticket.
I hope everyone realizes that the "park" was made that way so it could be redeveloped later without people protesting the destruction of a park. Given their objectives, it was the best we could have asked for from Bellsouth short of them wasting millions in private money on building a city park. Of course people are going to complain about how its not urban this or dense that but when it comes down to it, just appreciate there is something there at all. It isn't a park, its a lot waiting for office expansion.
(I guess I couldn't resist)

Yikes - I'm getting that location mixed up with the Georgia Tech campus a few blocks away. I'm on the same page here, especially considering this is the street corner I used to live on, I remember watching the baptist church spire being torn down.
I think it should be left as-is. Every morning I drive by that park and see people and pets out there enjoying it. There's not enough open green space in Midtown, aside from Piedmont Park - and that's too far away from this park-like area. Not sure why anyone would want to see something get built here that would minimize the current amount of green space.

The park should be left alone. I agree with MidtownMile, a fountain would be a nice touch. More dramatic lights for night fall would set it off. I live 2 blocks from there, and walk by almost everyday. It's nice to see people playing with their pets in the park. Perhaps, it should be officially named: Canine Park -> And, I don't even have a pet!

Use it for a mini golf course, because that's what it kind of looks like.

I gotta say, a putt-putt would be a delightful addition to the Midtown entertainment scene. :haha:
