Proposed for the building right next to the Atlantis (soon to be The Ticket) bar.

Very cool....looks like itll add some nice density. Is The Ticket a bar?

It was Atlantis a lounge/bar now it's The Ticket a nice looking sports bar. I guess they're trying to play off the The Ticket 760 here in SA.

Nice find, sirkingwilliam!!
The height to the BASE of the little hat at the top (mechanical penthouse?) is 161 feet.
All in the name of density.
sirkingwilliam - when you say "next to" the Ticket are you saying that it will be just WEST of the Ticket (Atlantis) on the South side of Houston?
If so (and where else could it go, I suppose, since East of the Ticket is a street) what is it replacing - my brain is locking up on me. :lockd:

Holy Cow!!! That would put it next door to the Maverick Apartments, a ten story residential building (nice density for that block). This is next door to the bar that used to be Shadows just a few months ago......I wondered why it closed after Christmas without any notice. I did notice it is getting ready to reopen, this time as Ticket.

Ya, I checked it out on Google Maps... That is a skinny lot if it's the one I am thinking of. I would post what I am talking about, but I don't know how to make that happen.

The massing model shows it looking like a 14 story capital "H" right up next to Maverick Apts.

White cricle is where this 14 story building is proposed and the black circle is where I believe a 28 story building is proposed.

^^ Thanks for posting that sirkingwilliam...
If those two projects come through, I think that the Houston St. revival will finally be able to be called a reality. Much progress has been made - but 42 more stories will really help make that street the dense urban corridor that it deserves to be.
And let's not forget the planned Embassy Suites on the parking lot across the river from the planned Piazza San Lorenzo. And the fact that The Vistana is going to border Houston as well....whew!!

Proposed 28-story tower site:

The blue building (and maybe the one just to it's right) are the buildings that would be turned into the 14 story proposal:

What is the 28 story project supposed to be? Does anyone know anything about the Niesner or the Kress projects?

Actually it was a 27 story building and if I remember correctly it was supposed to be a residential building.

Ya, actually that sounds right. I remember it being something along those lines.
And don't forget the plan to revitalize RiverCenter Mall contains a nice sized-hotel...

The 28 story isn't in limbo, it's still out there far as I know
The 14 story building is probably more incentive to build in that location.
