That is pretty cool. I liked it. I liked seeing the new park in south lake union. I also notice that the future fortune tellers that created the video assume the Viaduct is still standing. (we will probably be still debating it) LOL :D

Great video. I like the emerging spines along Stewart/Virginia towards Capitol Hill and 5th and 6th through Belltown.

^No, you're not alone. Of course we're far behind because we only really got started a few years ago and it will take much time before all of that gets filled in. Sorry if that depresses you, but that is the reality.

Which cities are Seattle trailing behind so far? If I look at cities of similar size, we seem to be right on track. Don't get so down- things will get better!

In my travels of cities of North America, we are not falling behind. If we compare ourselves only to Vancouver, Portland and SF, you may be disappointed.

However, keep in mind that there are vacant parking lots a few blocks off of Michigan Ave. (Magnificent Mile) in Chicago. A city is truly never done.

^^ i don't even think it is supposed to be that tall. And anyway i think the condo project proposal is done, i heard that the spot where it is at is going to be an office tower, so we will have 2 see what the outcome will be

Awesome video, if we could only convince someone to do Portland...

Its great to see that they put something this good together. And being its just the first part of the beta, we'll have to check back for updates.Take a look at the Foster designed building, I'm sure it will have nice curves. 5th and Marion looks great, I was not thinking it would be that tall either. But it fits in well. ANd look at the Cosmopolitan... All snug in between those tall buildings. Can not wait to see AVA in final rendering!.....It would also be nice to see Bellevue in a rendering like this.

i think that rendering for 5th and marion is too far off, isn't it a 46 floor office tower. 46 floors should be around 625' to 700'

Wow I hadn't even noticed 5th and Marion... If that and the 40 story office tower by the church are built, that area could become quite dense with 500+ footers!

what is the foster deisgned building?

what is the foster deisgned building?

I think its the one called "3rd and Cherry" in the downtown area right by the City Hall and the Columbia Tower.

An entire block and we get that puny little building. A huge disappointment; I don't care who the architect is.

it's 400' tall and the building is only 1/3rd of the block. the other 2/3rds is plaza. 400' isn't that bad, it's just unfortunate it has to be right next to columbia center

They show the Foster building on the southern 1/3 of the lot. I thought it was going to be on the northern 1/3 with the plaza to the south. Anyone know?

am I the only that feels we're still so far behind? I mean look at all those parking spaces downtown!

In the next few years, the only large concentration of surface parking lots are going to be in the Denny Triangle area, and we'll get cracking on those then.

I thought the same thing. Maybe the graffics got flipped during rendering. *L*
Even though they are not using the entire lot for the tower it will be great to have one of Fosters buildings in Seattle. And any open park space is good!

This is just a rough estimate but I think it's safe to say that over 60% of the surface lots in downtown (between Denny to the north and Yesler to the south) are either being built on or has a proposal for it.
