I want to find out what this project is. It looks pretty big, cranes all over the place. Its on the MD side of the Potomac, right near where the Wilson bridge crosses the river. Its in kind of a small bay, does anyone know what it is??

What you are looking at is the beginning of a massive new development called "The National Harbor"

From their website...

National Harbor is a 300-acre, mixed-used development that will include the Gaylord National Resort(2000 hotel rooms) and Convention Center(470,000 sq. feet), the largest such facility on the East Coast

More hotels to bring the total number of rooms to around 4,000

2500+ residential units

Tree-lined promenades with 1,000,000 sq. feet of shops, dining, and entertainment

500,000 sq. feet of office space

Four piers, including two marinas

10,000 on-site parking spaces

From what I read, that giant outdoor sculpture, "The Awakening" is being dug up from Hains Point and will be placed on a new sand beach that will be part of the development, just south of the Wilson Bridge.

You can find out a lot more about it here...
