Google now not only has online 360 degree panoramic walkthroughs of a few cities (dubbed "street view"), but has a lot of the SF Bay Area covered, from the majority of San Francisco to Oakland to Palo Alto and San Jose downtown.

See it here and be sure to see the demo movie (to the left of the map) before using it to know how to use it.

very impressive. Any word of when this will be expanded to other cities? Like San Diego?

I DEMAND THAT SAN DIEGO AND SACRAMENTO BE PART OF THE FIRST PHASE OR ELSE I'M GOING TO CANCEL THE ENTIRE GOOGLE PROJECT.

They have a great shot of my condo's dumpster--there's even a garbage truck there emptying it.

I DEMAND THAT SAN DIEGO AND SACRAMENTO BE PART OF THE FIRST PHASE OR ELSE I'M GOING TO CANCEL THE ENTIRE GOOGLE PROJECT.Actually, I am okay with them doing it in phases. Or, even not at all. Fortunately the google pic project is not critical to the state; however, we'd sure get some laughs if Sacramento were included.

I saw on TV news last night... some woman is looking to slap google with an invasion of privacy-type complaint. Seems that you can see her cat sitting in the window... then I fell asleep, so didn't get the rest of the story.

However, you can see my place of work... to coin something I read: Today NASA released photos of the Earth (taken by astronauts on the moon). It looks a great deal like Rand McNally always said it did. -- Huntly, Brinkley (NBC evening news).

So far the funniest thing found on the Google street views of SF is this gem (http://www.poormojo.org/pmjadaily/archives/015997). Don't you feel bad for that dude?

:previous: Lovely. That's (quite literally) one block away from my house.

*goes and locks front door* :haha:

Has Google mentioned anything about which cities are next or is it just planning on rolling them out as they come? I'd love to know what sort of timeline they're working with.
