Tonight I was testing out my DSLR on night shots. The tripod was a little wonky and I am still figuring out the exposure settings, so go easy on me! :)

Good work, Boris! Did you use manual mode to do the panoramas? If you didn't, you should - it makes sure that the exposure is identical for all shots and that way the seams are not anywhere near as noticeable.

Looking forward to seeing plenty more now that you've got your new equipment :)

I did use manual mode... just isn't working out quite right yet I guess.

Oh well, night shots in general are a first for me. Need to get used to it.

Nice work Boris.
Not a bad place to camp out on a beautiful evening.

Very impressive shots Boris. This should be the new banner for the Calgary construction thread.

Thanks, but... isn't that a little self-serving? :P

I find night shots to be at least somewhat about luck - and I have to say you pretty nearly hit the jackpot with these ones. I still haven't been able to eliminate seams from my nightime panos either, so I wouldn't worry about it. :runaway:

I especially like that third panorama. It's awesome. :slob:

Oops. I just figured out how screwed up that first pano is, I'll go back and fix the stitching...

EDIT: Fixed!

For all the photo buffs on this page, I have access to a few rooftops in and around town that make for good pictures (see my lilac pics as an example). If anyone is interested we can do a picture day and go take some shots. PM me if anyone is interested.

That would be really fun!

EDIT: Okay, fine, I made a banner out of that one. However, I'm not posting it on the front page yet. I like the one that Surreal made as well and it feels a little wrong for me to post one made by myself.

Excellent panos! Personally I love the second Pano, the twilight sky reflections, but all three are great.

No worries Boris, your panos are fantastic. If you want to change I don't have any problem at all.

Awesome panos -
if you are going to make that the thread banner - maybe try to blend the sky colours at the seams - thats the only suggestion I have - these are awesome either way!!!
(inspiration to do the same thing now...)
