Here is the old trolley barn that was used when Greensboro use to have street cars. Should this development comes to Greensboro and should they have a venue such as the House of Blues, I think it would be a great idea to preserve this barn and make it part of the House of Blues.

Here is Center Pointe condos. A restaruant and maybe a coffe shop will be on the first floor and some penthouse units could sell as high as $6 million and have ammenties such as two-story waterfalls and built in large home theaters. Center Pointe is located across the street from Center-City Park.

I agree. There is tons of potential. Everyone is waiting to see if a MAJOR $200 development is coming to Greensboro. It could include a 600 room highrise luxury hotel, major entertainment venues for families, children and singles, some holding up to 2,000 people and attracting major national acts. Also envisioned for the project is another luxury hotel with about 50 rooms, an IMAX theater, as much as 250 residential units, office and commercial, retail/shopping, multiple restaurants and a convention facility. Its not a done deal for Greensboro but the city is the front runner for this secret project where the developers are scouting the southeast for it. The project involves international developers and major developer from Orlando, Florida. The project has been described as a "themepark without roller coasters and water slides" and the goal of the developers is to make this project a tourist destination for the Southeast Region. Greensboro would be the first city to have a project of its kind and if successful the developers would do this around the country. The developers are attracted to Greensboro central location among several metros and millions of people living in a 2 hour drive radius. They were also attracted to Greensboro downtown revitalization efforts as well.

Other areas of downtown development includes Southside, a collection of townhomes, single family homes, condos and apartments. Much of the architectur eis designed to look like early 20th century homes but there is some historic renovation, The townhomes range in arhcitectural styles and a pallete of pastel colors. Some homes look like Charleston mansions, some townhomes look like Georegetown dwellings and some look Frensch Qaurters New Orleans style buildings. Southside has a Wine Cafe' Restaurant called "The Press" and live jazz music is played on thrursday and in the weekend. The place has a sofa lounge area as well as sidewalk cafe seating and has WiFi. Currently in this downtown district a major apartment complex called "City View" is under construction and it will have a community center, pool, cyber cafe', bussiness center, and cardio center. Also there are luxuy condos being planned as well as another restaurant and commercial/retail space.

Another major downtown development in the works is "Murrow Station" (named after the famous Greensboro native Edward R Murrow) which is a mixed use development that will have 132 townhomes, condos as well as a club house, office and retail. http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=132687

Also a downtown development which could top $130 million and include 300 residetial units, conference space and midrise flats are in the works.

But on top of downtown development, The FedEx hub being built at the airport in Greensboro has set the metro up to becoming a worldclass "aerotropolis" The hub helped attract Dell to the area and Also helped bring a Honda jet manufacturing plant to Greensboro along with the world headquarters. Economist say if the Triad cities (Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point) work together in making the region an "aerotroplis", The Triad would have its own identity and differentiate itself form the Trianagle and Charlotte. Ecoonomist say the Triad can become a MAJOR bustling metropolis if the region builds it identity around Piedmont Triad Intl Airport, the region's strongest economic asset. Also a number of major interstates intersect in Greensboro such as I-40, I-85, future I-73, Future I-785 and the I-840 beltway. There will be one section on the beltway that will have 3 interstates making Greensboro one of two ot three cities in the nation having a section of freeway with three interstates.
