Hello Everyone,

I'm back from my trip to Portland and I had an absolutely great time. I've written up a pretty lengthy account, inlcuding reoccurring reflections on the differences between our cities as I see them. It's in the Northwest regional US section and I'd love to start a conversation on the topic, especially with those who may also have visited that city.

I've got a tonne of photos that I still need to sort though and I will post some or link to a Flickr page when I can.

Great post, SFU Vancouver! I'll be going down to Portland this summer for the first time, and I can't wait!

They really are the model for our city -- particularly because of the streetcar and the new tram. They face many of the same challenges that other North American cities have, and yet they have prevailed.

they still have some crappy traffic though - we caught the max that ran alongside the one freeway into downtown and the traffic was bumper to bumper moving at a snails pace
