Just a few pics I took Sunday night. Starting out with the fireworks as seen from Glenora

Gotta say, you guys really know how to make good use of the High Level. That thing is everybody's bridge.

Yeah, I agree.. it's nice - sort of an standard now to fire explosives off of it

Nice pictures! Wish I was there. I was in St. Albert for Canada day and can vouch that the party was pretty kick ass here too - great turnout for a city of 60,000.

Jasper Ave was the smaller of the parties from what I heard. Whyte Ave was more busy... and a little crazier.

And I don't know how many were out downtown, but Millwoods got an estimated 60,000 at their fireworks show which started just before the rivervalley show.

On an aside, I spoke to a friend of a friend who was up visiting from Atlanta, and she was blown away and surprised at the magnitude of the party.

FYI: the High Level was not used to launch the fireworks, that was done from Kinsman Park below. The High Level had the Great Divide Waterfall until just before 11:00.

/\ Downtown Jasper Ave was packed. I sat in Fluid after the works and experienced it first hand.

Whyte Ave is always more rowdy than Jasper. Different crowds.

From what the Jasper pix show, that gap might be narrowing.

I heard numbers ranging from 60,000 to 80,000 at the Legislature grounds.

Took Cold's advice and posted in City section. I suppose it doesn't hurt.

From what the Jasper pix show, that gap might be narrowing.

The numbers gap might even have reversed... there's more licensed space now on the Jasper strip than Whyte, but the crowds are still mellower on Jasper.

Awesome pics!

I was actually on the corner of Jasper and 109 from 11:30 to about 12:30, so I might be in a few of those pictures (abeit not very visible)... there was this drunk guy at the bus stop completely decked out in Canada apparel with glasses glowing with LED lights and the whole shebang. Everyone walking past him was yelling loudly and high-fiving at first glance.

...reminded me of another legend that frequently rocks out at a lot of west-end bus stops in Edmonton.
