Well Austin55, you werent here when these where on SSP Cityscape.

Well, back in October 2006, Staunton was positively coming along great. But I got bored of it, so Staunton Stopped Production.

And, here is was Oceanside, California

I'm sure many of you remember it!

Oceanside was a New kind of Metropolis, in Contrast to Staunton, Oceanside was a bright city, with a population of 900,000 to 1 Million, smaller than Staunton. The City was squeezed between LA and San Diego and was one of America's greatest cities. The crime crackdown of 2000 and anti-drug war helped the city improve from its "meh" 90's.

After 9/11, while Staunton collapsed, Oceanside only improved.

The city was very sucessful, COMworld, a multibillion Enterprise had its headquarters in the 76 Floor Comworld Tower, taller than the original Galcorp Tower (I raised up One Galcorp a while back for better prominence). The City had rolling plazas, palm trees, and lovely modern Skyscrapers. Many of those tenants where such as JCsummit, RegionBank, World Entertainement (Headquartered in Hollywood), PalmBank, and Lewis & Clark financial (which has yet to move its offices to New Jersey).

Of course, some of you already know the story.

My Computer Crashed.
December 2006.

So, all I had was an old Backed up version of Staunton. The only thing left of Oceanside was the thread (which is long gone now).

And of course, Staunton was lost too.

I did resume Staunton shortly before the crash, Imagine if my computer never crashed, I wonder what Staunton would have looked like today.

I've saved all the Oceanside pics shortly before the thread was deleted, I'll show em' if anyone wants to see more! :)

I was inspired by most of those other cities you guys had on here like the first Staunton, Oceanside, Sun City, and Praesidium (did I spell it right??). I didn't post much at all. I think I did once or twice :haha: well Patrick, don't be sad that you lost Oceanside and the first Staunton, because the current Staunton is the greatest SketchUp city ever made!! (in my opinion, but they're all wonderful) I would love to see more pics of Oceanside. :)

Isle Cristelle: Not so much a failure as much as a needed hiatus from the original City City for me. It was important because I used it as a testbed for many of the techniques, design ideas I'm employing in CCII (most notably, hills).

Patrick, it really is a shame Oceanside was lost. The building designs are stunning and actually very believable (as in, something I could see being built in a real city, like LA)

CGII, so do you plan on doing any more with Isle Cristelle? The terrain was such a great idea.

Maybe, I'm not quite sure as to how far I could get with it texture wise. It's supposed to have a Southern, Californian/Floridian feel to it, and my texture set for that style is rather limited (whereas City City gets all of my bountiful Chicago and Milwaukee textures).
The terrain is coming back, however, for the suburban parts of City City. The hills won't be as tall, but they'll be as steep, in parts.

Thanks for the pics Patrick  Oceanside had some really nice designs -

Thanks! The point of Oceanside was everything Staunton wasnt. Oceanside allowed me to exersice my skills and design new modern buildings, which Staunton just couldnt have.

Although, before the crash, Oceanside suddenly sort of became boring, as a lot of planning was required and Staunton was already well planned out. Plus Oceanside was too perfect, I mean Staunton was really exciting, while Oceanside was just sunny skies everyday (which I'd much rather have it rain  . so I resumed construction with Staunton, right before the crash.

I'll have more screens on tonight.

Sun City, as requested by Patrick. Damn was that a huge city (but it lacked detail); if I recall correctly, it stretched more than a mile down the coast. I'm too lazy to go check the file - yes, I still have it.

Hmm.. I've gone trough MANY MANY versions of my "Atlantis City" ( way back from my Sim City days ) - why I for a long time called it the "Atlantis Project" instead :)

I unfortunatly don't have many pics of former versions ( but I may have the files on some of my computers I don't use anymore  )

Here's one of the pics I did post..

Here's another dead ( well on life support ) city from me...

However - it will function greatly as an ispiration to my lastest product where I'll build the city in a completely different matter with realism and details prioritised over file size and supertalls :)

My new City will btw keep the Atlantis name.. ( uhhh I'm so original ain't I :D )

Another dead city: Brixton, MD

Or rather a comatose city as nothing new has been done since I became busy last fall.

It was never added to the SSP map, but Brixton is located at the very top of the Cheasapeake, on the western shore of the Delmarva peninsula.

Here are some of the photos from the last thread I started on Brixton.

Why was this a failure city? It's really nice. The only thing I don't like is that the towers shown in the pics have too many steps but other than that it's great. The layout is nice too.

Anyways, another failure city: La Corte.
