Wow, stay classy, DDOT.

Seriously, bus drivers have to put up with a lot, but in no way was this excusable. First off, you're a bus driver paid to stay cool under pressure. Secondly, men aren't supposed to hit women. If even some don't believe that, to say he used disproportionate force would be an understatement. Really, DDOT doesn't need another black eye, and this woman is going to sue the pants off of DDOT.

I know the city is tough, but, damn.

DETROIT -- A Detroit Department of Transportation bus driver was suspended Monday after assaulting a passenger aboard his bus on Detroit’s west side, according to city officials.

According to witnesses, a woman and her 7-year-old son were on the city bus when the woman and the driver got into an argument over a fare she was supposed to pay.

“She was getting off the bus with her son at her stop. She said, ‘You need to check your attitude.’ He said, ‘You need to get out of my face,’ a witness aboard the bus said.

According to witnesses, the woman threw a bottle of water across the drivers face.

The driver slammed on his brakes near Schoolcraft and Stansbury roads.

“So he jumps off the bus, went behind her, started punching her, threw her against the fence and hit her in her face,” said the witness.

According to police, a woman passenger tried to help the woman by jumping on the bus driver’s back.

Witnesses said the driver punched the other woman passenger in the eye.

One of the passengers was taken to a local hospital and is being treated for minor injuries.

Charges may be filed on both sides. Police said the driver may file charges against the passenger and the passenger may file charges against the driver.

The driver is in police custody for further questioning.

City officials said the driver has been suspended pending a full investigation.

Sometimes they will accept a transfer, and sometimes they won't. Sometimes they will be running late and drive right past you. Sometimes they will park in the middle of a street so they can run into a fastfood joint real quick. The system is a mess. I hope she takes the city for all she can get.

And, I hope he sues her, too. The fact is that as disagreeable as someone can be with you, you don't ever assault them, period. Both of these clowns are in the wrong, here, if even the bus drive more so.
