Buffalo residents,
Following is an idea I have for the Buffalo METRO Bus system. I would like your comments on this idea. Let me know if the routes sound good, and if they are good candidates for this service, etc. And let me know about any other routes you think this idea could work on, and any major trip generators I missed. METRO ZONE BUS ROUTES
Reviving Metro Bus service in Greater Buffalo by providing quality frequent bus service on major corridors.
LEAVE THE TIMETABLE AT HOME WHEN TRAVELING IN A METRO ZONE.
SERVICE ON METRO ZONE BUS ROUTES WILL OPERATE EVERY 15MIN OR LESS SEVEN DAYS A WEEK, UNTILL 9PM. SERVICE DURING LATE EVENING HOURS WILL OPERATE EVERY 15-30MIN TILL END OF SERVICE.
METRO ZONE BUS ROUTES WILL OPERATE ON THE FOLLOWING ROUTES, SERVING MAJOR DESTINATIONS.
1: ELMWOOD-DELAWARE
Niagara Square to North Tonawanda(Meadow Drive and Nash Road), via
Elmwood Ave, Knoche Road, Delaware Ave, Goundry St, Payne Road, Meadow Drive.
This route would serve major destinations including Downtown Buffalo, The Elmwood Strip, Buffalo State College, Albert Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo and Eire County Historical Society, Delaware Park, Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Riviera Theatre, North Tonawanda City Market, Mid City Plaza, North Tonawanda High School.
The Elmwood Corridor will also feature more frequent downtown express service during commuter hours.
2: BROADWAY
Niagara Square to Eastern Hills Mall, via Walden Galleria, Buffalo-Niagara International Airport. This route would operate along Broadway, Union Road, Walden Galleria, Genesee Street, Buffalo-Niagara Airport, Holtz Drive, Yongs Drive, Main Street, Transit Road.
This route would serve the following major destinations including Downtown Buffalo, Broadway Market, Walden Galleria Mall, Buffalo-Niagara Airport, Airbourne Business Park, Erie County Community College North Campus, Eastern Hills Mall.
3: SOUTH PARK
Niagara Square to Erie County Community College South Campus. From downtown Buffalo, buses would operate along South Park Ave Milestrip Road, McKinley Prky, and Big Tree Road.
This route would serve major destinations including Downtown Buffalo, South Buffalo Redevelopment Site, Botantical Gardens, Our Lady of Victoriy National Shrine, McKinley Mall, Erie County Community College South Campus.
The South Park Corridor will also feature more frequent downtown express service during commuter hours.
5: FILLMORE-HERTLE
Hertle and Niagara to Fillmore and South Park.
Buses would operate along Hertle Ave, Main Street, Fillmore Ave, Kensington, Grider, E Delavan, and Fillmore Ave.
This route would serve major destinations including Little Italy, St. Francis Health Centre, Erie County Medical Centre, Museum of Science, and Broadway Market.
6: Niagara Falls Blvd-REGIONAL SERVICE
University Metrorail Station to Downtown Niagara Falls.
Buses would operate along Niagara Falls Blvd, Plaza Drive, Williams Road, Niagara Falls Blvd, Military Road, Packard Road, Niagara Falls Blvd, and Pine Ave.
This route would serve major destinations including Boulevard Mall, Woodlands Corporate Centre, The Summit Mall, Niagara Falls International Airport, The Outlets of Niagara, Downtown Niagara Falls.
7 MAIN STREET AMHERST
University Metrorail Station to Eastern Hills Mall. This route would operate along Main Street, and Transit Road.
This route would serve major destinations along Main Street, as well as Erie County Community College North Campus, and Eastern Hills Mall.
The Main Street Corridor will also feature more frequent downtown express service during commuter hours.
LOCAL BUS ROUTES WILL CONNECT WITH METROZONE BUS ROUTES, AND SOME METROZONE ROUTES MAY INCLUDE LIMITED STOP SERVICE AT A LATTER DATE.
