nice walk monkeyman...and i have to say again, you seem to capture some of the most terrible sides of Edmonton, not that i have a problem with that.

Such an Edmonton icon. I love this angle of the tower. When I was a kid I remember the 'CN' would light up like a train tracing the letters.

Outside the event area, I can't help but almost expect to see the Omega Man walking around.

WHERE ARE THE FREAKING PEOPLE!?!?!?!?!

Edmonton has SO much left to do on the density front. Otherwise, these pictures leave me thinking of W1nn1p3g again.

A: I work every day but Sunday, so this is the core at it's most deserted, and
B: I tend to go off the beaten track, as my little trek through the back side of Stationlands indicates, and
C: A good chunk of what I take pics of is stuff we're discussing here, i.e. the crane shots, the shot of where Quarters is going in, Icon and Sobey's going in.
and last but not least,
D: I don't have a pair of rose coloured glasses, and Edmonton needs repeated kicks in the ass about a lot of the crap.

Say "er um" one more time, and I'll call you Mayor Quimby.

Is it just me, or does downtown Edmonton appear rather dreary?
I hear they have lovely trails that run along the river and some nice parks though.

Judging by these pics, I would agree. As a resident who knows better, I disagree.

Don't take my pics as representative of Edmonton... I have what some might call an overly critical eye....

That's funny, cause Edmonton and Calgary lead the country in terms of new vehicles on the road.

Personally, I think of Saskatchewan when I see cars like that, but that might be cause my dad had one when we lived there back in the 80's for a few years, and I always see these types of cars now a days running around here with saskatchewan plates, covered in gravel dust.

And a camera phone. Any developments on the new camera front?

I don't know that I've ever seen anybody walking down 102nd and 103rd Avenues on a Sunday. Seriously. Thanks for the critical eye on Edmonton m0nkyman. At least someone isn't afraid to post the dirty laundry ever now and then.

A Taste of Edmonton (eat Edmonton as I used to call it) is awesome. One of my favourite events

Nice shots Monkeyman, but Geez..I guess you won't be submitting some of these to the "Most Beautiful Cities in the World" contest. Some of the downtown looks a little rough or a little tough.

Its because we visited edmonton a lot in the 80's probably - last time i was there was 1989

and friends of ours drove that type or similiar - and they seemed to be the car of choice for farmers - the town i grew up in had a lot of farmers

and well you did get to see a lot of them at WEM with sask plates - haha

Here's a link to my Taste of Edmonton pics which are a little bit more sanitized than m0nkyman's:

I still managed to capture this bleakness though:

But this is what you saw if you turned around:
