Yeah, that's Stevenson Tower...must be older 'cause they redid the exterior a few years back...I could ask around, but I'm guessing early 70's.

The crown could use some work but i wouldnt mind seeing that uptwon near union and prince edward square it would fit in nicely there.

As others have said I too like the looks of the Stevenson Tower ... the other towers are mostly bland boxes and the tower with the red panels on the fascade is fuggly ... unfortunately this ho hum type of 1970s raw concrete appartment tower with some colored panels pervades most Canadian cities ... :slob: :yuck:
Still on this subject, does SJ have some new/new-ish appartment and/or office towers with decent architecture? ... if so please post - thanks

:previous: Very nice looking tower ... wish it had about 20 more stories as it would look fantastic in around the 30 story mark ....

I wish too...it was originally to be 10-11 stories, but was reduced during construction. I saw it sit there for months waiting for a new owner while the structure was abandoned by Rocca.

Interesting pic of Brunswick Square I found...looks like the tower was supposed to be twice as tall by the looks of the concept photo.

Yeah there's still a model of it somewhere that shows it twice as tall as it is today (but I can't recall where it is right now). Unfortunately SJ has a history of cutting back on projects once they are already under construction, so we have several buildings that are shorter than they are supposed to be.

:previous: Here's an easy solution ... you SJ and area forumers 'convince' your local developers to propose say 40 story projects ... that way when the tower gets cut in half it's still ends up being a respectible 20 stories ;) ;)

:haha: I like your thinking, that's pretty much the most plausible way of doing things around here. Irving does the same sort of thing with projects all the time. Prior to the real announcement they leak some information that makes it sound huge/deleterious so that when the real announcement comes, everyone thinks it sounds reasonable and is less likely to whine.

:previous: LOL damn developers think the same way from coast to coast ... there was a proposal to build twin 12 story towers on our water front ... problem is I'm living in a small town (3,800) where the tallest building for miles is only 2 stories ... major ado ... compromise solution? ... 5 three story buildings housing as many people as the original proposal.... and, voila this 'scaled down' project comes as a big relief to all the protesters and will likely be approved ... the locals have been hoodwinked as I think the developer would have had a heart attack if the locals had actually supported the original concept as I doubt the developer had any intensions of building that large a project in the first place ...
