Neo;3526939']very nice details for a very nice tower
so what's the next proposal for sabal?
Thank you :) Next will be florida styled rowhouses. That's kind of an oxymoron because there is no rowhousing anywhere in Florida that I know of. The closest thing I've seen was in downtown Orlando some new townhouse styled buildings were there, so this is going to be a style unique to Sabal. Something never seen before I don't think. They will be stucco homes, maybe 3 or 4 floors each. Others will be similar to the downtown lofts I posted a few months ago.

Just a drop off zone. A large canopy above but no more plants.
Peter
May 3, 2008, 1:02 AM
Easy enough! I'll do that tonight or tomorrow. It'll be a navy blue canvas top with chrome supports.

You should also have it gated, and put a guard post, or something to that degree.
Peter
May 3, 2008, 5:42 AM
^Good idea. They will be chrome railings.
I have decided to not do the rowhousing yet. I promised myself when I started this city I wouldn't jump all around the map. I must fill in the blocks I have now before I move on, and rowhousing is not in this area, high rise apartments are the only residential around, unless you want to include the hotels, but those are commercial hospitality to be exact.
Instead, I will do another skyscraper tomorrow or Sunday. I am visiting my sister and brother-in-law in Winter Park (a suburb of Orlando) tomorrow, so I might not be able to start it until Sunday. I might be going to downtown Orlando!

May 9, 2008, 4:32 AM
Aleks, thanks, it will all come together once you see the final building. I am happy with the results. I just have to do final details.
In the meantime, while the Great Southeastern Bank Center is being completed, here is the finished entrance to the Reflections Hotel.
It is a wavy-shaped brushed aluminum roof with four aluminum support rods and support from its connection with the facade. The railings are also aluminum. It's not too fancy, but the wavy shape matches the wave of the hotel chain's logo.

Do you copy N' Paste the balconies then just push the door frame or do you just copy a whole balcony with sliding doors and paste?

It's very complicated how I do it, but to put it simple, I only make what I need once, and from there on it's a matter of duplicating, dragging, rotating, and whatever else needs to be done. My method for making skyscrapers has changed a lot since I started the city. Each one has more detail than the previous. I am considering making full floorplans next time.

Here is the finished Great Southeastern Bank Center!!
Great Southeastern Bank Center
- Completed: 1987
- Height (to tip of pyramids): 352' 6"
- Stories: 31
- Cost to build: 76.2 million
- Primary tenant: Great Southeastern Bank Corp.
The site was originally the location of an abandoned ice plant.
The plant was owned and, at one time operated, by the Southern Light and Power Co. (SLP) who sold the abandoned building and lot to a private owner in 1978 for 2.2 million.
In 1979, the private owner went to city council to have his lot rezoned from light industrial to high density commercial office. Council approved.
The rezoning allowed the owner to sell it for much higher than he paid. In 1982, the private owner sold the building + lot for 8.5 million to a local developement corporation.
In 1984, the new owners and developers proposed a highrise office center for the lot. Council approved and the design process began. In 1985 the final design was approved at a maximum height of no more than 400' from ground level.
Construction commenced that same year beginning with the demolition of the Southern Light & Power Company Ice Plant.
The entire project was complete in 1987.

very nice new tower peter. i like the entrance and the big windows of the

The building has a very classic post-modern design. I love the arch windows on the bottom, I assume that's the banking hall(?). The palms on the bottom also add a very classy touch, as does the stone steps to the entrance. I like the facade tone and the window patterns.
Very nice addition to your city.

Correct, the lobby level is an atrium by definition, and Dac is also correct in what its main purpose is.
The facades of the sides and back on the bottom were planned to be blank walls. There will be other buildings touching those sides.

Yup, the first floor is a big bank, with service counters bordering the whole room (except the entrance of course), and bankers' desks throughout the room. Right in the middle is the starwell and elevator entrances all within the core. There are 10 elevator shafts and 2 stairwells.
I must give credit to the SunTrust Center (Orlando) for the color scheme, window design, and the pyramids.

Looks great. It actually looks better than what I thought it was gonna look like. It reminds me of 900 North Michigan (http://skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=161) but with a different outline color (green-ish). I also like the base. Not only is it very detailed but the windows are tall like I like them.

Yup, the SunTrust Center in Orlando was the inspiration for this one, but it's no where near identical to it. Mine looks more like 900 North Michigan as Aleks pointed out.

The hospital has a new addition. This parking garage was added on in 1967, replacing a big parking lot, and making connection with the hospital's research center that will come in the future.
http://img528.imageshack.us/img528/4759/sabalisland111jm0.jpg
It's the best parking garage I ever made. It still needs 2 elevators and 1 stairwell, but those will come sometime later. Next I'll start filling up the block behind it.

Yes, the hospital was moved one block down because it was too close to the old bell tower hotel. :)

:haha: i think it just might. It feels really hot sometimes. Luckily I got recent backups on a second hard drive.
About 5 months ago my computer broke and I was sure I lost it all. Miraculously the hard drive was still good for transferring my old files when I reinstalled the system on a new hard drive.
