La altitud del Huascarán es de 6,768 sobre el nivel del mar.
Aqui un artículo:
El Huascarán es un pico nevado ubicado en la cordillera occidental de los Andes centrales del Perú, en la Provincia de Yungay, en el sector denominado Cordillera Blanca. Su cumbre sur tiene el pico más alto del Perú al alcanzar los 6.768 metros sobre el nivel del mar.Su nombre proviene del quechua waskha (cadena) y ran (piedras o montañas rocosas), así pues Huascarán significa "cadena de montañas". Existen varias leyendas acerca del origen del nombre Huascarán, pero la mas verosímil es que "el Inca Huayna Cápac a su paso por Yungay le dio el nombre de su hijo primogénito Huáscar a la más alta y bella montaña", por lo que Huascarán también significa "La montaña de Huáscar".


En cuanto a si que si se puede esquiar , en el nevado Pastoruri se puede
esquiar y hacer snowboard , pero es un tipo de esqui de aventura por lo elevado del nevado mas de 4,800 m.s.n.m.Para la semana del andinismo en Huaraz hay competiciones con esquiadores venidos de todo el mundo , por la altura hay solo algunas instalaciones básicas.
