which skyline shot do you like best for winnipeg?

(I personally dont like the skyline shot currently on wikipedia)

(If you have a different skyline shot of winnipeg post it

A) The current skyline shot:

B)

C)

unfortanitly none of these shots are mine

(A) is from 1ajas

(B) is from: http://www.danharperphotography.com/main.html

and I dont know who took (C) I think someone posted it on skyscraperpage

I like pic B with the Bridge and fireworks. It looks, dare I say, "World Class".

Pic A is grey and washed out. Needs to be changed.

Pic C seems generic (nothing really stands out), but is not bad.

Sorry 1ajas, most of your photography is really good, but Pic A is just hard to look at. You went a little overboard with the HDR

Of the three choices at top, C is by far my favourite; it makes the skyline looks its biggest and most imposing and shows off the beautiful tree canopy, while I find B looks a bit clich├ęd and doesn't make the skyline look that big. I like the first one Viking posted as well. It's my second favourite.

As for A, ah, what RG said...

I think pic B is the nicest of them but pic C is definitely the best in terms of showing off the skyline. It makes Winnipeg look quite impressive really.

what happenned to picture a? is that snow or volcanic ash?

It's Adrian abusing the HDR button.

Someone (other than Adrian :)) should go out and re-take on of these:

I voted for picture "C". It makes the city look much bigger than what it actually is.

Option C is nice if it could be taken on a less hazy day. I'd also try a little higher up if possible and lose a bit of the distracting foreground stuff.

I've also always liked Winnipeg's skyline with the Legislature in front as in the second one Vid posted. With some dramatic lighting it almost always makes Winnipeg look cosmopolitan.

Whoever took pic A didn't use Tone mapping, that's the problem... Color Enhancer should be used as well.

the final one makes winnipeg look very large; big skyline, and still some sort of urbanity in the foreground, far from downtown.

This website is about skyscrapers, no?

Winnipeg is a canadian city, no?

I wanted an honest opinion from Canadian forumers.

I dont know what you have against the manitoba or saskatchewan forumers but any forumer from manitoba or saskatchewan you try to put down. :(

dude, don't sweat the small stuff.

Although these picts aren't entirely representative of our skyline as they are missing several 20+ storey buildings. I like shots that involve either the Exchange district or Esplande Riel.

They're good but it has to be wider than tall, as it has to fit into the infobox. If we can get a wider version of the second one, it would be perfect.

I'm content about the wikipedia now, it better represents our city then before but could use some more pictures and if a better skyline shot comes along someone could change it.......

its alright...but the skyline shot is junk, it looks good up close but in the infobox it looks like a gray bar, needs to be a square-ish type pic...for exaple look at the Moncton article which I did most of the picture stuff for:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moncton

The article also needs a few more pics I think, Winnipeg is a beautiful city, show it off :D

Click "Upload a photo" on the left sidebar, then follow the instructions.

To put it into an article, use this code: where "Name of Picture" is the name you gave the picture.

To get more specific, you can scaled it: - replace ### with the number of pixels, somewhere between 120 and 300 for a body text.

should add a description to the picture. There is a page that will help you, try typing WP:IMAGE into the search bar and see if that leads you to it. :P

mmmatt
Aug 21, 2007, 1:08 AM
they usually prefer you to do it like this though (so it has a border and whatnot) :P

where:

1. blankety_blank = name of image
2. Xpx = the size of the pic (replace X with numerical value)
3. side of page = which side of the article you want it on (replace with either "left" or "right"
4. description = the label the picture will have

EDIT: Whoops I just saw that you did have this option at the end me=:koko:

vid

Yes, I edited my post after putting it in, because i remembered that without the other stuff its just a plain image. I hate them without borders :P It looks unkempt.
