As I said, I will post new updates.
The Island where La Corte sits on just got a a master plan to build new things that will attract millions of people from around the Earth. All these projects have the following requirements:
1. Needs to cut energy levels by AT LEAST 1/3 of what a normal structure that size would use.
2. Needs to be near water and stay within borders to protect wildlife in the island.
3. Each residential and hotel projects must have at least 50 ft. between towers and provide enough parking for all of it's residents who have a car.
3. Must plant trees in open areas.
and final
4. They all need to pay 1 U.S. dollar for every person living in the building tothe government. This money will pay for light rail, monorail, bus system, airport, etc.
Plan for Island
Here is an overview of the island.
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Aleks0o01/79.png
The brown point at the top of the picture shows where North is.
Projects:
1. The three brown areas near the water will be developed and become 3 World Class Cities.
2. The lake North of La Corte will be filled in with three islands which will house the 3 main stadiums for the Olympics.
3. The point on the West side will house the (?) International Airport.
4. The Volcano (small brown spot in the center) will house 3 observation decks which can be accessed by climbing the volcano, helicopter, or hanging baskets.
4. Finally, the harbor South of La Corte will house a port.
Bird Eye Views of the Island:

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Aleks0o01/79.2.png
The Volcano is 10,9432 feet tall to it's highest point. There are two smaller volcanoes which never got as tall as the one in the center.
The towers I have finished:
Fountain Platza:
Status: Completed
Height: 1,175 feet to roof, 1,400 feet to spire.
Floors: 90 including 3 service/trading floors.
Use: Residential
Facts: Designed to look like a fountain. Pointing South-East not North-South.

http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Aleks0o01/76.75.png
Both of the top shots are the same but one has lines enabled and one
doesn't.
The Towers:
Status: Completed
Height: 564 feet each.
Floors: 45 each.
Use: The two towers in the back are residential and the tower in the front is a Hotel.

Well then go to Help at the top and click on Learning Center.
A window will pop up and it will say a whole bunch of stuff about Sketchup. It helps....A LOT.

Yeah, at the bottom of my post I explain why I named it plaza! I didn't wanna call it Fountain Place because austin55 already stated that Fountain Place is in umm Austin? Anyways it also gave me a change to make it sound fancy and get creative!!

Please wish good luck again!! This stupid thing is rendering everything all wrong!!!
The only towers which came out good were the Sony Towers, Liberty Square, AVA and the first 30 or so floors of the Dream Tower!!! SEE:

you need to reverse the faces
highlight everything,right click,click reverse Faces.
after that, you will basiclly have to retexture your whole city, there might be an easierway, but I dont think there is.:(

O.K. Another question:
Why don't the floors show up? All the see-through glass is now solid!! Why?

Wow ,lots of cool things there . How do you put the floors in buildings like Fountain Plaza after its built ?
How come you have a dark backdrop in your render ? i think that's why your transparent glass looks solid - there is no light shining through them

hey alek in or to get the glass to b transperent in kerk you:
go to materials, and go to "in Model"
then rename the material with the TG_ prefix;
(thin glass)
Hope this helps you, if it doesn't you can always use the tutorials at the kerk site

Thanks!! I'll try it because I really want to show transparency and over time I want to learn how to show reflections on glass and water. Water is probably easier!!

Thhe shadows are turned off on S.U. I don't like them on because they slow down my computer.

Umm.. I'll just explain it later. I don't think I'll have time tomorrow because it's going to be Sunday here and I'm going to the fair but maybe Monday and if not Monday then definitely Tuesday!! It's kind of hard to explain, I have to show it with pictures.
Another question: When I transfer my model from S.U. to Kerk. some of the models get cut off and I can't get a good view. Why is this? It's also hard to move in Kerk. There should be a look around tool in Kerk.
Mocholate
Sep 23, 2007, 6:05 AM
You need the shadows turned on in SU , thats why you have a black background and no light shining through glass , try a sample render with just 1 pane of glass , there is no need to adjust the texture - only the light
it is hard to get a good view in Kerk - I just get a view in SU that i want and export a new model to Kerk everytime
I understand the theory behind intersecting the block to make floors, nevermind

Buildings are a symbol of economic strength, but sometimes the economy makes it overwhelming expensive to make some of these beautiful architectural masterpieces. This was the case for Realtor 55, a company started in 1956 with the help of 55 associates which over time grew to be the third largest real estate company in the Western Hemisphere. Originally formed in Austin, Texas, the company started growing rapidly and is still growing at a more than normal pace. The company needed a new tower fast but the requirements in Austin were just too strict and land+materials+design+everything involving a new buildings meant that the company would have to pay Huge amounts of money for a 700 foot tower!
The only place to make a cheap affordable building was Dubai but it was too far and workers would not want to move there. Plus transferring all the employees would cost millions of dollars and the retirement of hundreds of jobs. Then in a small island in Mexico, an opportunity came along. La Corte had the same rules as Dubai but was a lot closer and the real estate economy was booming in La Corte. Today, 3 years after the companies announcement to move to La Corte, the building is open and ready to open it's doors to a new city where money will never be scarce.
Two pictures of the tower. Over time more pictures will be shown:
There tower has 55 floors and is 800 feet tall to the roof and 900 feet to the spire.

The buildings are very well done, but the more I see pic's of the city the more it seems like a theme park than a city.
The buildings are a little in-consistent with eachother. Probably because of the colors.
Aleks
Sep 26, 2007, 8:45 PM
The city is supposed to be somewhat Dubai-ish so that explains the mismatch color feeling.
I should have saved the island for tall towers but instead built freakin 400 footers! I want to move Tower 55 because I have another tower which seems to be the sister tower of Tower 55. Since they both "speak" to each other I think it would be nice if they're in the same block.

A.M.A to design new United Trade Center for La Corte
From the La Corte Daily:
Reporter Mr. Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto.
Today A.M.A announced that it will release a new Financial Center with at least 10 million square feet of residential, office, and commercia space. The project is being financed by Realtor 55 and will host several towers including an observation/hotel tower which will be the centerpiece of the complex.
The new complex is set to be built on the North side of La Corte and will cost between 4 and 6 billion U.S. dollars. If approved the center will forever change the La Corte skyline and it's economy. The project if built will be officially announced in 9/30/07.

Well it's mostly a government planned city, for now it's still a debate if it should become a state of part of a state.
If it becomes part of a state height regulations will go into place and the whole thing will be fucked up. So my guess is that it won't become a state or part of one. Maybe just be like what Puerto Rico is to the U.S. except the government in La Corte gets all the income and has a no passport policy to travel here.

Today, after long hours of planning and arguing, 5 companies decided that they will build 15 towers called The Big 15. These towers will all be spread out through the Island of Guadalupe which is quickly turning into a tourist destination. The towers will be between 1,100 feet and 1,200 feet and the companies behind the project will share profits insuring that no company falls into economic disaster. By building all these towers the materials will be cheaper due to "the less you buy, the more expensive the merchandise gets." This is similar to whole sale stores, where you buy a lot, for not that much.
The cranes have gone up for the first of the 14 towers to be constructed. Designs and heights have not been released yet but are expected to soon:
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k235/Aleks0o01/Fantasy%20City%202/7682.png
So far only one tower has been finished, the reality is that the companies decided to buy the tower which was owned by Realty 55. Fountain Place will under-go small changes but there are still 14 more towers to go.
So, what do you guys/gals think of the project?
Also, I will not do any renderings for my city because I'm lazy and don't want to reverse faces!!

I cannot wait to see it completed. It's quite a large developement, and I would typically think its too un-realistic in size. However, after seeing what Dubai is doing, it seems proportional.
Aleks
Oct 6, 2007, 12:03 AM
Yeah, I know but I still want to add fantasy to my city!
I have a problem, should I add cored to my tower or leave them without cores? I want them to have cores because it's realistic. Duhh,, but I don't want to add cores because they take up memory from my computer!!!
So, cores or no cores?
Dac150

I would prefer cores, but if they don't agree with your computer, then it's up to you.
Mocholate
Oct 6, 2007, 5:18 AM
i think the glass should not be transparent enough to be able to see the core
'Building energy use' fits into your environmental outlook also
Aleks
Oct 6, 2007, 5:28 AM
I don't put cores on some but then I can't build them up because every time I add a section there is no core to hold the crane or anything of the sort. Once towers are done you can barely see the core.
I'll post another update tomorrow,

Lol, I thought my city was a little too colorful too. Don't worry I'll try to add more buildings like La Corte Plaza.
The wave is the first building I make that has balconies. There are a lot of horizontal lines but with out them you wouldn't be able to see the floors cause I don't use textures.
Anyways, plans are on the way for Punto Oeste (West Point) which was founded way before La Corte so in the next month or so I'll post updates on it.
