The Chronicle is reporting that the original 12 story Alkek Patient Tower at MD Anderson Cancer Center will be getting a major expansion.

9 floors will be added to the building located on the corner of Bertner @ Bates. Construction will begin later this fall to add 200,000 square feet of space and increase the number of patient beds to a total of 867.

The Texas Medical Center is simply BOOMING.

I've noticed that in the Med Center floors are added to existing buildings a lot instead of simply building another building. I'm guessing the area is built out so much now space is at a premium so the only way is to go :skyscraper:

cant believe i turned down a chance to live in that district for 2 years. TMC was one of the best things about houston IMO. Werent there 2 30-story condos going up over there?

You must be thinking of the twin Mosaic Towers going up in Hermann Park, which is very close to the TMC.
