Hello everyone,
We would like to introduce more localized forums for the South American forums. We would like to create sections for Mexico, if there are enough people interested in it, and even major South American cities.
Where should we start?

As I said before it would be better to do it by country, unless most of the forumers here are from major cities.

Maybe you can start with Argentina, Chile and Venezuela. Most of our forumers are from those countries. Hundred of our users emigrated to SSC and SSL due to the lack of activity here. I was told that there are some problems in SSL with the moderation staff that make forumers feel "unhappy". Maybe if we offer them a new organization, They'll come back.
I think that the argentinean main forum should include sections like "Developments" and "Transport"... it could have an eventual off topic section as well. I don't trust in separating the new forums by regions or cities, 'cos there are not enouhg forumers to post there.
I'll recive suggestions from our current active members and let you know their points of view.

That'd be great, thanks.
Countries would be good and we can create some sub-forums within them if need be.

So if a list of categories for forums are made up they would have to be translated into Spanish of course.
Then the feedback would have to be translated for us to know how it worked out.

Here we go :D
ARGENTINA
Proyectos & Construcción >>>>> Developments
Infraestructura & Transporte >>>>> Transport (highways, subways, airports, etc)
I think that we're not ready to have our own off-topic subforum.
Maybe we can do the same in Venezuela and Chile...

Business, the Economy and Politics
Arts, Culture, Dining, Recreation and Entertainment
City and urban related discussions could also be added

^^ ok... we can include all that in a off-topic subforum...
I don't have any idea to name it... you can put "La Tanguería" and we change it if it's necessary.

It depends on how we would define "off-topic"
City Discussions and City Photos is still considered on topic, but the rest yes is off topic.

^^ ok... I think that 3 subforums will be enough. Otherwise nobody is gonna post there.

What's the busiest section here? Argentina? Perhaps we could roll out the sub-forums there just to see how they pick up?

Yea it seems to be Argentina.
Maybe mateolago can post a thread in Argentina about breaking it up into localized forums in Spanish of course and gage reaction that way.
If it is a go ahead then just like in the other regions it should be given it's own category above the other sections to signify it is different.

OK... I'm gonna do that and let our forumers know about that by PM.

...and mention for them to check out SSP:Local Vancouver to see a working example of this.

And just so the forumers know, it's about creating more sections within the Argentina forum and not splitting Argentina from the South American section.

^^ yes... that's the best way... we are just a small group and don't want to stay alone :haha:
Just talked about the new organization with some guys and they agree. But, we think that separating (Argentina by cities Buenos Aires, Rosario, Córdoba) will be unsuccesful.

And the idea of this is the hopes that it would attract new people and increase more traffic.
Funny thing is we've been wrestling with trying to increase traffic here for more than a year or so.
I've made all kinds of changes and implemented all kinds of experiments, but it failed to generate any significant increase in traffic, although adding more countries and giving Mexico it's own section did improve the setup.

^^ It might work... some forumers that left SSP will be back soon when they see the changes.

Mike and Mark, we're ready to have new subforums. You can open them in Argentina
Proyectos & Construcción
Infraestructura & Transporte
La Tanguería (off topic & general discussions - the name can be changed if forumers want)
If you make Argentina appearl like a separate countrie maybe our forum become more attractive. But remember that we want to remain in Latin America General secction.
Cheers.

Ok I started with some changes. I guess it's a matter of moving threads.
Then additional forums can be added over time if need be, like a photo forum or something.
