I took this earlier in the week and it captures the peculiar low white autumnal light we get this time of year. For the uninitiated, Vancouver is located on Canada's West Coast in a temperate coastal rainforest climate. Because of this it is lush and green throughout the year and it rains or is overcast for a large portion of the winter months. As we move into this "rainy season" part of the year the light changes dramatically. It is often overcast or raining for much of the day but there are small windows of time around dusk when the sun falls below the level of the clouds and strikes the city horizontally with an intensely white light. I've tried to photograph this before without success but I feel I got it this time.
