WOW. You can really make out the Blue Ridge in background. What kind of camera/lenses do you use?

Someone on here argued very strongly that there is no way that the Appalachian Mountains are visible from Downtown Atlanta. I knew that they were visible because I have seen them many times...but I let it go...

^Well, whoever said that is clueless.
I worked on the 38th floor of Georgia Pacific for 9 years, and on a cool & dry Fall/Winter day the mountains look almost like they are in the metro. It's spectacular when conditions are right and you're high enough up.

Oh, and THANKS Joe for that beautiful shot.
Check out The Mansion, and the way the King & Queen look like they are part of Buckhead!

Is that looking towards Stone Mountain?
no, it's looking due north (or slightly north/northeast). the mountains you see are evidently the smoky/blueridge mountains.

Here's the view looking east toward Stone Mtn. Decatur is on the horizon and the Carter Center is in the trees just below the Decatur buildings.

Those are actually the Southern Appalachian Mountains. The Great Smoky Mountains are part of the Appalachians, but are further North on the border of TN and NC. The Blue Ridge is the nickname for part of the Appalachian range that encompasses the Great Smokies, Great Balsams, the Roans, the Brushy Mountains, and several other mountain chains.

Can't top beautiful Fall pics and Atlanta is a beautiful city for Fall. Looking at the pic with the mountains in the background makes me long for Dahlonega and Amicalola Falls...canoeing, hiking...I miss it!! Thanks for the great pic!
