Orleans biggest residential development is on its early stages with the first phase (building) under construction/excavation process.

Another Transitway/BRT TOD success story? Not!

The maps don't show the site's proximity to the Transitway station at Trim Rd, and the text doesn't make mention of it either:
Just a stone’s throw away from this property are the protected marshlands and developed beachfront areas of Petrie Island. Shopping malls and the big box stores of Orléans are just a short drive away, as are the recreation facilities at the YMCA, the Orléans Rec Centre and the Ray Friel Centre. Mer Bleue Bog and Green’s Creek conservation, hiking and ski areas are close by and the riverfront boasts miles of groomed bike trails. The Cumberland ferry over to Quebec is easily reached as you drive East, as are a number of golf courses and riding stables. Highway access is minutes from your door, so whether you travel South, East or West, you’re on your way in no time.

While I agree,
Two things:
1) you have to cross the 174...on foot...5 lanes and a median! Can't see too many people doing that more often than they have to. I think they are planning on adding/extending one of the North Orleans express buses to that area of Trim.
2) most of the new condo developments in Ottawa (urban or suburban) are not transit oriented for the reason that they are far too expensive. Even the ones in Centretown or Lower town still contain large parking garages. Most people with the incomes/cash on hand required to purchase most these, also own and drive cars....they just do.

I was near this development on the weekend. They appear to have started pile driving.

just a note: in the building page, they say that, "Local bus service is a short walk from your front door."

Did they ditch the other 3 towers? I can't find any information that references the project as anything other than a single tower. How are sales?

Nope...it is just a 4 phase project. They will be building this thing for many years to come.
Most of these huge projects are designed to give the builder lots of stopping points in case things are not selling.
Probably in another 6 months or so you will see a phase 2 launch...market conditions permitting.

It has to be at least 13 floors, because last weekend, while having a beer in my friend's backyard in Masson-Angers on the Quebec side, we could see the first tower from across the Ottawa river. Looks out of place! Hopefully once they build the other towers it won't look as lonely.

It could be taller....I was looking from far away too. There is not too much crane above the tower left.

They have reached the top of the tower and have filled in the walls on about 3/4 of the building.

It makes for quite the visual impact driving west on the 417. The tower just jets into view, over the tree-line.
Personally, I would have prefered if they built two 30 story towers instead of four 15 story buildings. A massive 60 story condo would be over the top, but would look soooo cool. lol
