Yeah I think my mom was taken back at how many blacks folks she seen in London and Paris. One thing for sure blacks folks I encountered were pretty much the same. I remember this guard staring at me when I was taking pictures in Chelsea neighborhood in London. I just gave him the 'whats up' nod and he let his defense down, nodded back, and smiled. He knew I was a brother at that point, as we all know thats a universal language. Black folks were cool in London, and very classy.

Paris on the other hand, they were a bit more standoff-ish, and talk about booshie. :rolleyes:

I'm gonna have to be the voice of dissent here and say, no thanks... It looks VERY pretty but it also looks very relaxed and village-y.

Cities need some level of urban chaos to feel exciting...

Also, I imagine the high income levels there make it feel like a whole city of upper class priviledge... I'm just guessing on that one, but I hate neighborhoods that have a snooty feel, even if no one in particular is rude to you, some places just have that uncomfortable feeling of unacceptance.

It's Switzerland, silly. These are the folks who specialize in making precision watches and in keeping secret bank accounts. It just wouldn't be Switzerland if it weren't neat and orderly - and rich. ;)

Seriously, Zürich puts most North American cities to shame when it comes to urbanity, density and "chaos".

As for diversity;
...30.0% of the registered inhabitants of Zürich do not hold Swiss citizenship...
...and the percentage of foreign born inhabitants is probably quite a bit higher. That said, I don't know how many of those who are black...

Great photos! :)

Great photos! :)

I think a lot of the foreign born are Serbo-Croatian, as well as German and French. I read that Serbo-Croatian is much more prevalent than CH's fourth official language Romansch.

Zurich does put most North American cities to shame in those regards, but it is what it is - there aren't many places in the US that have Switzerland's type of terrain to support the narrow valleys that naturally condense people into smaller places. The fastest growing city in the EU is Toulouse, and it's a relatively flat, sprawling city outside of its old center.
