don't know what it is...but there is a crane up heading west on the 417 right before the terry fox exit....i'm guessing condos or apartments.

Which side of the 417? (North or South?)

If it is on the north side just to the east of the Kanata Avenue off ramp, it is for a upmarket seniors residence being built.

I'm assuming it's not on the South side because I don't think that the Kanata Park Towers will ever get built. Their sales sign is looking really beaten down and sad these days.

That building could be anywhere. You know it really is a bit of a crime to have these artists renderings as they all seem the same to me after a while.

Is Kanata Park Towers aimed at seniors. If so, I remember a meeting in early 1995 in which the developers were presenting plans to the community association and trying to get people interested. Since then, a (by now) tired looking sales sign etc, were installed and no activity.

Strange... there's a phantom version of the exact same building directly behind it.

Clynnog is correct; the tower crane is for the five-storey Royalton Retirement Residence

I'm not sure how to load photos on this yet, so I am not sure if the photos will show or not.

It is between this building and the highway that The Group Lepine Ottawa, from Montreal has proposed plans for, four 9 to 11 storey apartment buildings, and a fifth low-rise recreational centre for the tenants of the 850 one- and two-bedroom rental units. The good news is that the vast majority of parking will be underground.

Lepine has built some nice buildings in the city and been around for over 50 years.

Liberty Assisted Living are building this upmarket seniors building, but I believe that when it opens it will be managed by Allegro Residences (a Montreal based firm who own Rideau Gardens, Heritage Manor, Stonehaven Manor in Ottawa and McConnell Manor in Cornwall).

IMHO the summer 2008 occupancy for this Kanata building is very optimistic.

I've driven past this building a few times, and it's progress has been very fast since it hit ground level...

That whole complex they are planning to build will add nicely to Kanata's skyline between the the Hotel by Kanata Ave and March Road...
