Hello people,

I though that it would be interesting to wrap-up all the ongoing and future projects of Klaipeda in one thread, to sum up, how Klaipeda is developing at the moment, and what is waiting in the future.
Enjoy ;)

I think it would be a good idea to indicate at least what country Klaipeda is in... I'm not sure if everyone is familiar with that ;)

Wow! There's a lot going on in Klaipeda, Lithuania!

Thanks, Arturas! :)

@Jonas: you can tell from Arturas' location. ;)

Wow, this past summer I actually visited Klaipeda during the Baltic Sprint Cup. It is a charming, festive city!

Changed the title to include Lithuania, like Jonas said, not everyone is familiar with Klaipeda...

I'm amazed at the amount of (high quality) highrises under way in Klaipeda. Surpasses Stockholm even, and we're a bit bigger! :)

Good move, Swede.

And the amount of HR & other building projects going on in a city the size of Klaipeda is truly impressive! :)

Time for an update.

No problemo ;)

And now on to the projects. As you all probably know, the economical situation has left some projects on hold for a few years, but here`s what`s still rising ;)

Awesome shots and nice projects :) how's the construction industry doing over there now, with all the economic problems (globally)? I know it's a problem in Stockholm and I know a few big projects that are on hold specifically due to the banks not wanting to give loans.

Jep, the same situation here. Bank`s are now in control of the market...

Thanks for the update, Arturai! I particularly liked the panoramic shots at the beginning. Coming into Klaipeda by ship as I did earlier this year is a wonderful experience. I particularly enjoyed the interplay of the shapes and silhouettes of the K and D buildings.

True, the current slowdown in the financial world will also slow down Klaipeda's impressive boom and its surge towards the sky, but I hope the slowdown will be of short duration worldwide.

I spent some time in Klaipeda this summer and it really is a modern, tidy city, probably the best looking city in Lithuania. Yes, Vilnius has a better skyline, better old town and is richer overall but it's also got slums and very poor areas that aren't present in Klaipeda. Add to that the sea and suburbs such as Palanga and Nida, and Klaipeda becomes a very attractive proposition if you're planning to move to Lithuania at some point in your life (like me).

Isn't there also the massive project to replace the Soviet-era nuclear power stations that the EU has required?

Not in Klaipeda but yes, the old nuclear plant will be replaced.
