View Full Version : Detroit Riverfront. The vision

I just came across the video for the restoration of Detroit's riverfront. I am happy to report that a large part of this plan has already been built or is in progress, and I think it is amazing Detroit has pulled this off, and in such a quick amount of time. I wish Toronto moved this fast in redeveloping our waterfront :)

Anyway check out the video. Its great.

I saw it recently from the people mover, and it adds so much to the shore in downtown. That was an area that was almost useless until recently. Those pictures do a good job of showing it off.

Good for Detroit. Smash through your stereotypes.

You just now found that, that video has to be at least 3 years old?

One of the more interesting parts of the plan is under construction. The Dequindre Cut a below grade, abandoned rail corridor is being turned into trail similar to New York's High Line. It'll help connect the east rivefront to the neighboroohoods to the north

Michi recently provided upated construction pics.

This is a former below-grade railroad ROW that is being converted into a pathway (rail to trails) primarily designed for recreational activities such as walking, jogging, biking, etc.
