Mardi Gras - formerly Hollywood Dog track. Rebranded as Mardi Gras casino when they voted in Slots in Broward county. Technically a racino I guess. Further down you have Gulfstream, home of the Florida Derby. They rebuilt (and continue to rebuild) to allow more slots there as well.

other than that... Very nice! Glad you got the camera out.

and Okeechobee. I gave up and just pronounce it the way it looks now. The lake is drying up pretty quickly, though it doesn't look too bad from the air.

Auto Pilot????

Beautiful scenery Tony, I never knew that region would look so nice from the air. Then again any area with some much water around would be awesome in my book.

No auto-pilot in that little piper, but on a rather "Calm" day you can trim it to certain altitude so it isn't hard to take some pics.

I will try and take some more, and get better with practice now that I have the digital camera!

The Lake looks dried up from the west side. I fly over that often from vero beach to naples and Fort Meyers. The East side looks okay but it seems the east side has a sheer sided wall/dam around part of it.

The whole lake is surrounded by the Hoover Dike. It was built in response to the repeated flooding during hurricanes. In '28 a hurricane caused a surge that killed thousands on the south side. In the picture you can see a ring canal that abuts the dike and then many islands and shallow areas beyond that. The whole thing is pretty shallow.

I'd love to see a few of Naples and the Keys if you get a chance.

I flew into Naples the other day but didn't bring the camera. I will try and hit it again this coming week.

Ahhh Home Sweet Home ... water, race tracks & high-rises. Awesome shots. The other racetrack is Gulfstream. I got the Vegas bug a few weeks back and went there. Won some $$$ on the slots. Lucky night. Downtown Ft Lauderdale is looking pretty good too ... & Sunny Isles/Hallandale, a smaller version of Gold Coast, Australia.

Its fine. I wasn't thinking when posting it. I was just giving reference to people that listened or listen to the talking heads. The lyrics are about looking down on society from the wings of an aircraft, and david byrne says, " I wouldn't live there if you paid me." I wasn't referring to not living in Miami. I never been to Miami before, so don't know what it is like.

I am flying back to Houston tomorrow so I might not do Tampa until next week if not it won't be until February as I head back to Italy end of next week.
