The Canadian Figure Skating Championships are this week and are being held in Vancouver at the Pacific Coliseum - figure skating venue in 2010.

But sales are way down. They actually put a big black curtain around the upper bowl so the venue doesn't look so empty. So of the 16000 seats at the arena, some 10000 are blocked off due to poor sales.

Is this a bad sign for VANOC?

Or did Skate Canada do a poor job marketing the event?...which is very much likely the reason.

I think this is a concern for VANOC as well, considering previous championships (many in smaller cities) have sold out.

probably no one knew

I only heard a week ago they were even here

and it was on a toronto CBC show - the hour

other than that i have heard nothing locally

usuaklly they hype it up weeks in advance

I'd have to blame Skate Canada for poor marketing....i don't think it reflects on the ticket selling performance for 2010.

I didn't hear about this until yesterday when I happened to see it on TV. Not that I'd go see figure skating if I did know about it.
