I think MikeToronto just wanted to get a rise out of people, and I guess it worked on me.

The guy is stupid and naive.

SFU Vancouver, I'm afraid your efforts in explaining our region have been wasted... the guy still doesn't get it.

Most people take MikeToronto with a grain of salt. He doesn't cite sources and often posts his own proposals as if they were real.

Miketoronto is so frustratingly naive and ignorant about anything Vancouver oriented. Has he even been here before? He's going on about Vancouver having unfavourable driving/transit stats yet he doesn't cite a single source. And then SFUVancouver comes swooping in like some superhero of the urban geography world and kicks his argument's ass and yet miketoronto just keeps repeating the same stupid assumptions. He also appeared to say "it seems..." a lot... well maybe you should look up some hard facts instead of talking out of your ass, miketoronto.

And he goes on like as if its the end of the world for Vancouver as it's killing its vitality with its regional town centre layout even though the whole region has been doing nothing but improving on all fronts and downtown Vancouver is stronger and more lively than ever. Maybe he is concerned about Toronto's future but from where I'm standing Vancouver has nowhere to go but up. I feel that in a few decades Vancouver will be a ridiculously successful city. It has so much potential, so many things lining up for it right now, and the fact that it is a relatively small player on the global stage will make its rise all the more impressive as it only stands to benefit more and more as the rest of the world starts to take notice. And it has already come such a long way in the last couple decades.

Anyways, as you can tell... miketoronto frustrates me, I'm SFUVancouver's newest #1 fan, and I'm ridiculously optimistic about Vancouver's future... and due to the ranting nature of this post, probably overdue for a good night's sleep. :(

I love how he singles out Vancouver in the title. Can he be more obvious about his dislike for our city?

What is this guy's deal with Vancouver? Calgary has to be worse for single passenger trips than Vancouver. If it wasn't for the C-Train no one would take transit in Calgary. This city is obsessed with the automobile with far-flung suburbs that require the use of a car to effectively get around the city. Densification is a dirty word in this city and we should be looking to Vancouver on how to build vibrant communities where the car is not king.

And hats off to SFU for succinctly characterizing the unique transportation challenges that Metro Vancouver faces.

Is MikeToronto's Ryerson's planning program at the undergraduate or graduate level?

Is MikeToronto's Ryerson's planning program at the undergraduate or graduate level?

Ryerson only has the undergrad program until later this year when the graduate program is available. Therefore he should be an undergrad student.
