CIP concrete is extremely rare and is only utilized on lower cost buildings, most buildings today pour concrete on site. Now freakin drop it!

M'thinks you're a little confused. I'm pretty sure CIP is cast in place which is pretty much an on site thing.

Coming along nicely. Not going to win any awards for originality, but it has clean lines and a nice elegant silhouette, and is a good example of what we have been calling the "Toronto Style" condo that epitomizes this past wave of construction. Blessedly, the hat so closely associated with mid first decade 2000's condos doesn't appear to be too overwhelming.

if PC = poured concrete and CIP = cast in place (concrete) then they are exactly the same thing!

each has it's advantages/disadvantages. cost is not necessarily the reason to use either.

All concrete is initially poured, then cured(dried).
some in an off-site (controlled environment) facility /or not in it's final location -and is sometimes called 'pre-engineered'

the other is served up the good old fashioned way; build a form or cast on site and the wet concrete is poured in on site, allowed to cure, forms later removed, presto!

this is painfully basic information. you should know this by 2nd grade.

Sammo, PC stands for precast

This is painfully basic information... especially if you took the time to read a page back through the thread...

Do your homework before you try to act condescending.

And Calgarian, precast is mainly used as an architectural feature or veneer, what you are probably thinking of is tilt-up construction, which is a form of cast in place... but yeah mainly used for 1-3 storey warehouses and office parks with large laydown areas.

my appologies, you're right.:(

i kept checking in on this thread till the concrete debate went away... when i checked in (last few posts -quickly) to see pc, cip, etc still being discussed i was getting annoyed and responded with that 'almost-diatribe'.

and i'll admit, it's actually tough being 'condescending' on this thread regarding construction because most contributers are pretty sharp and have knowledge (of bldg/& sciences, etc)

One of the major Yorkville skyscrapers under construction at the moment. When complete it will be taller than both BSN & Casa which are in the background of this shot. Over the past 6 months or so it's been working it's way to ground level and now that it is above ground level you can appriciate the sheer size of this project by evidence of the concrete columns and core in the picture above. I wouldn't trade Murano.

I'd trade a Bay Adelaide, a Shangri-la or L tower, and the Absolute twins or an Aura, a One Bloor and a completed Cityplace tower of their choice.

I would also trade BA and Telus for the BOW.

Aura...I'm not sure I would trade that, because it will be curtain wall glass, it will be almost the 75% of the size of The Bow, and it will be taller. (1.5 million sq -total floor area for Aura)

how utterly bland

You obviously haven't seen these towers from the front. - They are landmark design towers for Concord.

I have seen most angles and they are quite bland as a group. Concord has a reputation for mediocrity in design...

Wait until you see the Panorama Tower that is going up. - You might have to check yourself.

Size & height really doesn't matter not to mention almost every new condo in Calgary is curtain wall. (not to Aura's proposed standards though)

Aura may possibly be Graziani + Corrazza greatest work however, they are still hacks compared to other Toronto firms let alone an international powerhouse like Foster & Partners.

Definitely too much of the same window wall. Hopefully Parade is a different colour as well as the Toronto Community Housing Corp's towers especially the plot beside West One.

Excellent shot!
i didn't know Panorama was on the south side (opposite) of the Gardner.

How many storeys will it be?
Will it 'connect' with the rest of Cityplace?

That will change, with MLS. and Pinnacle 4 (if it ever gets built)

ICE, Parade, Ritz, Panorama, WHC2, and the Toronto Housing Towers at Cityplace will also help.
