Honestly Toronto, is starting to look like Tokyo from many angles, just like that photo above but the other above ground photo posted by steveve on the previous page. wicked density from the street or air and getting the pedestian crush to match. Don't quote me on this but.... AKAIK there are only 4 units per floor at Crystal so each of the North side units are corner units too, so they still have east or west views, such as they are.

I'd feel more for the South side of Uptown on the lower floors.

I love that photo too, but Tokyo? Tokyo density is double Toronto's.

Toronto's getting denser and more crowded, but it's not that busy or dense compared to lots of cities around the world. Another 200 towers over 100 m in the downtown core and a doubling of the population, and the old City of Toronto (700,000 people) will start looking busy like Tokyo or London. Remember how busy it was during Nuit Blanche? That's what London looks like on a regular day. ;)

But that would presuppose it was an homage to one of his residential buildings, which it is clearly not. It was trying so hard to be a tip of the hat to one of his commercial designs and just missed.

Still, it is one of the most beautiful, modern condos ever constructed, yet that is faint praise when you consider the competition.

I know it is a moot point but it should have looked like this:

I would love someone to photoshop that for i quite like the spandrel color and glazing so far and the balconies on each floor are well awesome. quick math time:

1/3 off width of a 625,000sqft building say is roughly 208,000sqft

assuming setbacks, say avg. is 20,000sqft/floor which would add 10 more floors give or take to put it at 39.

however due to the floor-ceiling heights, that would be roughly another 130-145' of height which would put it at ~ 620-635'.

That list is nice to look at and observe! thanks Cal! :)

Its funny/sad how more than half of the projects on the list we don't get any photo/news/updates on... :( (not complaint though :) ... just an observation)

No offense (i'm not a hater) but the name "Hotel Georgia" is gruesome for a new skyscraper :haha: -imo...

Photo of Burani/Lumiere (eve though Lumiere's not on the list)by dt_toronto_geek

Shangri-la/Burano at/near/reaching ground level! Exciting stuff to keep us busy when the Ritz and MLS are complete!
Lumiere needs some serious cladding but other than that it has had some very good progress! (the bare concrete looks nasty!) .. Lumiere is starting to make its mark on the skyline from afar!

The cladding on Uptown dirty indeed... Its probably just surface dirt that will be cleaned off once the building is complete...

30 years down the road we'll see a re-clad (jokes :haha: )

Uptown's almost catching up! I'd say 8 more floors until is reaches crystal's height! :D

Oh yeah! I never thought of that! But then again, they are opposing companies and a crane war could erupt! :haha:

Anyways... Here's a really cool shot of Burano by Mike in TO on UT:

Altiude Montréal 33floors construction starting in April

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s251/photoplayer_band/Untitled.jpg

Valliant, do you think it will make it into this list?

How tall is it?

Last time I saw montreal in this list was when that Sheraton, or hilton Hotel went up last year or the year before.

Welcome back!!!

it should make the list about 115m -120m

It should be a bit taller with this little feature on top (seems to be about 10m tall on the elevation on their website)

Maybe Montreal will be on the list in a few weeks...?

I'd be very surprised to see this break ground next month. Sales are good for a high end project like this however, they are still far below the targets today's lenders are demanding. Perhaps, they are self-financing but I doubt that.

It's really Rexall Sports that leading this development. Not the city. Rexall has bought the land referenced in my link...

I still don't see any signs that this is a "for sure" thing. This is only a "potential" site for an arena that is still in proposal stages.

Where's STAR tower in Etobicoke, on the lakeshore? Of all listed by caltrane I haven't heard of that one.

awesome shot of CB and Uptown caltrane! The stage where uptown is at right now is super skinny! It should be interesting to watch go up from here! And great capture of the little Yonge Street caynon... it looks really cool in front of the HUGE towers behind it! Epic capture Cal :D
