Looks nice and healthy. Does the University of Michigan have anything to do with that?

flar - plenty of Dexter residents are graduate students (including my wife) or employees of the University of Michigan, so it definitely helps with the vibrancy of Dexter. It is only about an 8 mile one-way commute.

Looks like a decent small town to live in. Reminds me of a few small cities near me in Upstate SC (Anderson, Easley, Greer, and Landrum). I bet it doesn't look nearly so warm and inviting this time of year though. Could you post a few with snow on the ground?

This is about as good as I can do skyliner. I haven't taken any pictures downtown this winter. This picture is from New Year's Day outside our house, we got about 10 inches of snow that night. Good thing I love it! :D

Nice shots.

I was there two summers ago. I must say I was surprised to see this thread. Thanks for posting.

looks like a good place to film a quirky small town romantic comedy

Doesn't quite match the skyscrapers of Detroit does it? :D Dexter would and probably could not exist without the Motor City! I've often commented on your Michigan threads and just decided Michigan needed more representation!

I used to like the ride out of A^2 through Dexter and towards Pinckney. And the road to Hell is not paved with good intentions, but with the usual roadbed. (Sorry, lame of me).

The only reason I know of Dexter is that it was featured on HGTV's House Hunters. A husban & wife were looking for a new home there. Now I have two reasons to know of Dexter. Looks like a nice little town. :)

Dexter!!! Sweet. I went to Dexter High School, not the new one though, the old one on Baker Road. Im glad to see that the bakery and hardware store are still in business. Is the card shop still there too? Its funny, that cafe (the cookie momster) used to be the police station...hah....

I drove through Dexter a few years ago and was pleasantly surprised. I've been meaning to go back to stroll the streets to get a better feel, but I have yet to do that.

By the way, Detroit has given much to Michigan cities. Including the University of Michigan to Ann Arbor. :)

These are great. I saw Dexter, MI on House Hunters on HGTV awhile back and though the town was very nice. These pics prove me right.

What a small world... seriously! :D I didn't expect many people to know of Dexter other than possibly my Michigan comrades. There is a small Hallmark downtown still if that is what you talking about and the drive-in A&W is still here... mmmmmm!!!

A and W...I forgot about that. Curb side service is a rarity these days...

I like seeing photos from towns like this that no one sees. I've been to Dexter twice I think. Here are my photos http://www.flickr.com/photos/downtownzack/sets/72157594500250966/
