I had to post this. It's from cafe unknown and there are several videos of Portland traffic taken in the 30's. It is before a unified street signaling system and they are amazing. The drivers were freaking crazy!!!!

Haha man, I thought todays drivers were crazy! It looked like some of those cars were going to plow straight through those people. Crazy fast streetcars too.

The video of NE Broadway and Interstate is terrifying. I can only imagine the fatalities.

In the fifteen years since 1925, more than 900 persons have died as the result of traffic accidents in Portland. The city experienced one traffic death every five and one-half days in the 1930’s.
