Hello everyone, I am the kind to compile useless lists, so today I made a list of some of the largest airports in Canada in an interesting way. I compared the passenger traffic of those airports to the population of the metro they serve. They are listed in order of the ratio this creates. I probably made some mistakes so let me know...I used all the most recent stats. Also I think I skipped a few airports...let me know.

Yeah, you're missing Winnipeg.
Places like Fort McMurray, Yellowknife, Whitehorse, and Iqaluit probably have very high ratios.

Interesting, keep up the good work. BTW, you can use the tags to standardize the spacing and make the list cleaner. I would open the info in notepad with a font like courier new and get the spacing the way you want it, and then copy it all into the tag above.

Exactly as you just said.
If you need more help with the code, all the stuff you can use on this site is in your reply box, entitled "bbCode Guide."
(As an aside, I used a noparse code so I could type out the other code above)

I'm not surprised to see Calgary at the top. It's a massive airport for a city this size. 12M passengers
Thunder Bay International actually serves 220,000, as if it the main airport for all of Northern Ontario. That is why its numbers are so high.

You you know the ratio for YKF/ Waterloo International Airport?
It would be bad to say the least, YKF is not in the National Airports System which means it serves a maximum of 199,000 passengers a year, and it serves a population of over 400,000...so it would be a ratio of like 0.5...Im assuming this is because most KW people use Torontos airport, same with London which is why thier ratio is so low as well.

It is impressive but has a lot going for it:
-AC Western Hub
-Winn/Reg/Sask feeder...somewhat an Edmonton feeder
-huge corporate sector
good on them but sometimes luck works in the right ways

Hamilton International?
Same thing as KW's airport, it serves less than 200,000 passengers a year, which would make for a ratio of less than 0.5...most people from Hamilton use Torontos airport Im assuming.

HI is the 13th busiest airport in Canada. Last year it had about 670,000 people. Also Hamilton offers more U.K. destinations than any other airport in Canada.

Everything I've read from you has been something bashing Alberta.
But if it's another reason you don't trust the stats, just say so.
If Hamilton International had 670,000 passengers its ratio would still be just under 1. But it might do better if we were looking at cargo.

Sorry bout that, I just assumed it had less than 200,000 passengers a year because its not part of the national airport system which includes all airports in Canada with over 200,000 passengers per year, however if it has risen above that mark within the past 3 years that would make sence because it takes 3 years to be added in...here is the current list:
http://www.tc.gc.ca/programs/airports/status/menu.htm
However like Flar said even if it has 670,000 passengers per year, the ratio would still be .97 because Hamilton has a population of 690,000.
Yeah, it takes three years. YKF has about as many passengers as YQT. It will probably be added to the NAS soon, along with Hamilton.

AC's western hub is Vancouver. Calgary is more of a regional (prairie) mini hub for them. Otherwise I agree with your statements.

Actually, Calgary is still identified as one of 4 AC hubs - although Vancouver is obviously their largest western hub. Another thing we have going for us is Westjet's head office being here.
And PLEASE fellow Albertans, don't give HAMRetrofit and AylmerOptimist the time of day. By acknowledging their comments, you're just encouraging them.
