Yeah Damn has an "N". Sleepshotshit.

You know I don't care about technicalities, if I see some interesting shit, I'll shoot. Fuck if dirts on the lens, blurry, wtf. Hate it or love it.

You know LA: Tacky- wacky - hood. Almost sounds like a bootleg TLC album. In a good way. Anyways, it was 85, and I came from 25 degrees so I can't complain, shit. Met up with ChrisLA who took me around town. Props.

Oaktown kind of looks like LA, or a California version of the bungalow belt/streetcar/inner ring suburbs of the Chi or Detroit or Cleveland, but with hills, whatever the hell I'm trying to say. There's other Bay Area locales in here too.

Those are some great photos of LA and the East Bay cities.

Good God, that Sunset Plaza strip mall with its subterranean parking located on Sunset and Highland is always captured by tourists on this forum.
I think its the building that Hollywood & Highland got its inspiration from.

It is fortunate that Hollywood Blvd (and many other streets) did not get massacred like parts of sunset did:

Nice job my friend, but I think you already know that. Thanks for sharing.

BTW our weather didn't stay that warm for long, as soon as you left it got cold again. Well not Chicago type of cold, but the highs drop back down to the low 60's, and the nights somewhere in the high 40's. Its been a strange spring, as again later today it will be hot hot hot, and by Tuesday its expected to get cool again.

Yep, its ugly, beautiful, messy, well manicured, gritty, clean, urban, suburban, dangerous, safe, glamorous, tacky all mixed together. The city in many ways is bi-polar, and has lots of things that can cause a person to hate it.

Yet its like a magnet, very alluring, and it appeals to many. Plus there is a lot of excitement, and endless things to do. Its very unique and only a few cities in this country have that appeal and LA is one of them. It can be the best of cities to live in, and also one of the worse. Kind of like NYC IMO, as I love this city and is my favorite after my hometown (Los Angeles). NYC without agrument has that attraction, and yet many parts of this city is quite ugly.

The Bay Area got some of that weather too. I was out of town this weekend but it was hot when I got back on Sunday. Supposedly it was hotter on Saturday.

Glad to see you made it back to Pasadena at a time when it wasn't freaking freezing outside ;)

I'm surprised the Bonaventure let you guys up to the revolving restaurant to take pictures at night, assuming that's where you got those last shots of L.A.?

^ I had to buy a drink.

You need to move to LA.

Man after the worst winter EVER, that extended into Mid-April, thats not to far off base, combine it with never-ending construction on the CTA, shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeet. I'm sick of all these tall buildings too, and bricks, and grit, and especially all these goddamn people. Matter of fact, screw that LA plan too, I'll probably move to some one-horse town in the Souteast, Goshee Mississippi or something. Fuck the city. Quote that.

That's the Bellevue-Staten Building (http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/bu/?id=bellevuestatenapartments-oakland-ca-usa) along Lake Merritt.

Architectural historian Mark Wilson wrote about the Bellevue-Staten:

Designed by H.C. Bauman, this well-planned blend of Spanish Colonial and Art Deco is by far the most elegant apartment house ever built in Oakland. Its fifteen floors are clothed in rich, warm-red brick; the abstracted Spanish Baroque decorative details are in poured concrete. Along the roof, chess-piece-like finials rise eight feet above the ramparts. The two-story-high lobby has a richly painted, plaster, coffered ceiling, and panels of squirrels eating acorns (symbolic of Oakland) decorate the bronze elevator doors. The original sales brochure described the Bellevue-Staten as the “the last word in ultra-modern Home-Apartment Construction.”
