i love it. as much as i wish more people to move in and start businesses in the old core and the artist district, i hope that area never loses its grit.

Looks nice. A lot nicer than people claim downtown LA to be.

I remember the 1st time I visited downtown LA. The new part felt like a ghost-town, all these mammoth skyscrapers with no street life. Then my friend walked me over to the old part of downtown and I thought "now this feels like a city". There is character and uniqueness to downtown LA. I just hope they're retrofitting the older buildings to survive future quakes, because there are some real treasures there.

And those newer parts are slowly desterilizing, with big projects on grand ave new restaurants and such

Wow, amazing job!!! In my personal opinion, I could care less for grit, but I'm blown away by the activity level downtown with all of the markets, etc. And talk about colorful!!!!!

UCtiyGardener explained it better than I could:

While the skyscrapers are impressive, the Financial District is finally starting to see signs of life (L.A. Live will definitely help). Has that Ralphs in South Park opened up, or is it still under construction? I haven't been able to follow LA development news much since I left.

Anyway, awesome pics of some of my favorite parts of Los Angeles. That first skyline pic is incredible! Was that taken from Sixth Street?

Great set of photos. LA has a palpable vibe I can feel when I'm in town. You've brought a lot of that energy to life through these pictures.

Open and very successful from what I've heard!

I can remember being on these streets with my L.A. relatives as kids. Nice to see it is changing. Great photos, as always!

Wow, those graffiti pics were kick ass. For some reason the old part of downtown LA reminds me of Over the Rhine in Cincinnati, only not as grimey. Nice pics

Thanks everybody: I appreciate the comments and it is nice to hear you enjoyed the pictures. To visit LA and not explore these areas would be a shame.
