Bored of the endless construction in China? Didn't want to look?

That was me^

Well here's an update... gawd theyve been busy.

There are plans for over 100 supertalls.

(Please guys, this isnt a chance to bring up Tibet or Olympics or human rights, just the buildings):

anyway this is scary (ignore the conceptual proposals for the time being)

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg64/z0rgggg/others/apricityl2008.jpg

It takes 8 months to construct a 15 storey building in Shenzhen, 18 months for a 30 storey one, despite strict building codes (they have to withstand the usual floods, bomb attacks and high winds, but also in yearly typhoon and earthquake zones.) A supertall takes 5 years from planning to finish.

These are just a selection:

Tianjin City centre

the tallest tower is the R&F Morgan Building (Proposed): 415m

Liuzhou Diwang International Fortune Center 303m, will be complete in 5 years

Twin 420m towers for Tianjin off tv - however this proposal has already been changed twice before so this may not be final at all.

Guiyang 77storey 7* hotel, part financed by Arab money
Look familiar? This actual organic-loop design now going up everywhere actually originated in the first major overseas commission for a Chinese firm - a condo complex in Toronto, then got copied in turn for the London Docklands, and now adversely, will be copied back into China by a Western architect.

Sweet tower. I see several influences there. I absolutely love those setbacks. What is this, and where is it?

Its a rejected design for Chongqing Sun Valley :(

Its absolutely perfect in proportions imo, and over 450m!

it looks too similar to one nearby too:

This clearly does not belong in the global skybar, but rather than delete it, I moved it here, where it is probably best served.

That proposal was 385m.

You can see renders for almost every supertall project on going in China in one click:

Moving this thread to the China section with 0 active forumers was certainly a bad move.

Bye bye to this informative thread.

Moving this thread to the China section with 0 active forumers was certainly a bad move.

Bye bye to this informative thread.

It was quite predictable that would happen, I got a history of run-ins with overzealous moderation. Ive had whole threads deleted from nitpicking (eg one photo credited to imageshack out of 100), you know the types, the ones that took days to produce, devoted to foreign cities eg Istanbul, Mex City etc alas, that at one point made me leave the forum from what I felt to be bias, and worse a suspected North American leaning agenda. Ive seen it happen to other peoples threads, astounding ones relegated to obscure sections (such as an Istanbul thread on skyscrapercity, one of the best Ive ever seen, plonked from City photos by certain mods into architecture and structures of all places).

Im glad someone called on it.
