Hamilton was featured in Canadian Geographic's travel magazine last month as part of their regular city feature:

Canadian Geographic seems to have picked up on the "new bounce in Steeltown's step". Westdale's shops, character, and walkability get special mention, along with the "galleries and a little grit" of James North. Mixed Media gets a nod as the "incubator for many of the areas bright ideas".

I haven't seen the print edition of the article, but Locke St. is notably absent from the online version. Maybe when they saw there were no parking meters, they figured it wasn't such a happening spot afterall. ;)

What no mention of HAMRetrofit as an incubator? what gives?

Good article though.

neat. Thanks Highwater... I didn't even know Canadian Geographic existed!

I love how she thinks Burlington Bay is "the shorelines of Lake Ontario". haha

^for shaaaaaaaaame!

been a subscriber for years, though i haven't been reading it recently for obvious reasons. there have been a few passing references to the hammer in that magazine over the years but nothing significant. anyway, it might be enough to lure a few people to the city.

Canadian Geographic is the magazine I go to first in any waiting room.

It's great to see Hamilton recognized by the media, it's such a rarity.
