Today is the first day of Summer, so I thought this would be topical, and a way to continue the Great Canadian Series
I wanted to create a thread for people across this great land to share (and proper cite their sources) pictures of Summer in the City in Canada. Hoping to see a lot of Street action with people flooding the busy retail streets and parks. Other such summer related things are welcome as well.
I will post some later on, you can go first.
and go

Someone should have got pictures of Stephen Ave here yesterday, they were giving out free cowboy hats in preparation for the Stampede. I figure they gave out about 100 000 hats.

Okay, that explains a lot. When I was out taking construction photos yesterday, I was wondering how exactly the CBD went into Stampede mode overnight.

13000 Smithbilts. Still impressive, considering they were apparently Smithbilts.

Given the first comment was about hats, you may have figured this out - instead of the tone in your post.

No tone intended, I assumed they were hats... I take it they are really expensive then?

They can be pricey...any custom made ones for sure. $200 and up. I've got 2 myself. They're as well regarded as Alberta Boot Company.
The white Smithbilt is most commonly known as the "Official" hat of Calgary. The '88 Olympians wore it, and any dignitaries that visit Calgary...oh, and almost any western you've seen, there's a good chance it's a Smithbilt (Assassination of Jesse James, Broken Trail, Unforgiven, Open Range, etc).

They're at the old CN train station on the waterfront. The first one is the Waterfront Chinese Restaurant, specializing in Northern Ontario Chinese cuisine, and the second is a café called "Good News on the Lake".
