most people know Lake Placid NY, famous for its hotels, restaurants, gift shops, for the Olympics, but few know about Saranac Lake, 20 minutes by car West of Lake Placid. the diffenrence between the two is huge.

Saranac Lake is touristy too. but it has a real main street with community centers, tattoo parlors, taverns, hospitals, schools, colleges, airport, grit, skaters, mexican joints, graffitis and full-of-hope philadelphianesque murals.

plus : it's historic, and right in the middle of a beautiful Adirondack Park setting.

I finally was able to see the pics. Nice tour, nice to see the town again.
It hasn't changed much trough the years. The best fresh blueberry milkshake I ever had was at Saranac.

I was through there last September. I liked it quite a bit more than Lake Placid.

Great tour!
