I'm surprised to see that big hotel there. Looks like a nice town.

I was also surprised by that hotel.
As I-80 goes across PA, it doesn't go near any cities of notable size, so there are signs for places like Clearfield and DuBois for miles and miles. It's interesting to actualy see the place. It looks alright. Nice tour.

The typical American small towns are always so nice and peaceful.

I'm not that surprised about the hotel. It seems almost every little town in the US has at least one really great building.

God-awful depressing grays and browns of north central PA. A couple decent bars by the river in Clearfield.

not digging the insulbrick?

:haha: I love the insulbrick! Western PA has gotta be the capital for it. Rugged, durable, with a subtle beauty to its ugliness. It was the covering of choice for the homes of my great-grandparents and grandparents... thankfully, my father didn't find it quite so lovely. Those types of houses combined with the gloomy late-fall and winter PA weather (as displayed by Clearfield in this thread), just make me want to find the nearest bar and drink until spring... which is just what a lot of people do in those parts.

Still, I'll take an early 1900s classic covered in insulbrick over new vinyl-sided crap any day.

Awesome thread as always xzmattzx. I use to always go through Clearfield on the good old greyhound on my way to see an ex-girlfriend at IUP(I Usually Party).

Clearfield, DuBoise, Punxsutawney, and Indiana are cool little PA towns.

I lived in a house covered in insulbric when I was a kid. It was ugly and we covered it with white vinyl siding. It was still ugly.
