Not surprising really... More people, more cars, more distant suburbs, more driving. A shame but like I said, not surprising...

I think the point is that there's a significant (and unprecedented) drop in miles driven in the past year.

The datasource would be here.

I'm not sure which one it'd be as I'm not quite sure what table would be most relevant. Consumption would be more relevant than production, as I'm not sure offhand what production means in terms of gasonline--if all that is produced here is used here it should be easy.
