Do you know anything else about the Richcraft's new condominium? The prices? Occupancy date?

I want to look at this new building because in a few years my job will be relocated to a building nearby.

I have not heard too much on this project lately.

There is an ad on page I9 of the homes section in the citizen today. (Split between this and the Besserer Street Project.

They say from $176,000. They mention a fitness facility and that the units are 513 sq ft to 1296 sq ft.

I see they've gone for three high-rise buildings instead of their old plan of densely packed u-shaped mid-rises. I think the old designs had a problem with privacy with much of the balconies and windows directly in line with each other. The configuration of the first three buildings are too close, and they had a hard time selling the facing units. The u-shaped buildings were to have been even tighter.

Personally, I think this project could have been planned better. With the Cyrville Transitway station right beside it, they could have had a few mixed-use buildings with ground floor retail in a main street style spine from Cyrville to Ogilvie Road with amenities for residents, and justify a denser layout. The present implementation is quite sterile and you still have to drive or walk a long way to get a coffee or shop. It would have been smarter to have privately run businesses such as a health club, hairdresser, florist etc, provide services that are open to the public rather than have to support exclusive fitness facilities funded with condo fees.

Thanks for telling me about the newspapers ad. I called a sales agent yesterday for inquiries and she told me that the prices on one and two bedroom units were raised two days ago. She will send me email with an attachment of pricing list. As soon as I receive it, I will post it here.

Pretty soon this project/location will start to make more sense to people...I think. It will be right on an LRT station and close to highways if that's your bag. Given the amount of units going up downtown, however, this site has been overshadowed , but I'm pretty sure it will build out.

I think I mentioned it on an earlier thread but if they had switched to this kind of layout (Newport Village, Port Moody, BC) (http://www.bosadevpm.ca/section.asp?pageid=10984), this development would have a lot more appeal. If you look at the location (GoogleMap) (http://g.co/maps/ystg6) it has a similar situation of being hemmed in by arterial roads yet has managed to have a very liveable atmosphere inside.
