Hell yes it does!
Use to go on lots of business trips there. O'hare to downtown was standstill the entire way EVERTIME we went!! At least I was on the train next to the interstate!

Chicago traffic is weird.... pretty horrible, but at the same time it seems to advance. Sometimes in Houston, you just stay there without any good reason. Granted I've only driven in Chicago like thrice, but that was my impression.

Austin - I took this shot late last month. The reason for the congestion was street construction, it was made worse since it was 5 pm. This was actually downtown, I wasn't complaining though, I just hung out the window and snapped about 60 photos in ~15 minutes.

It's two big interstates merging into one through downtown Atlanta (I-85 and I-75 it also passes through I-20). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downtown_Connector

Last time I was in Atlanta, there was a wreck on GA400 that took up all 5 lanes (maybe it wasn't 400, near GA Dome.) Cars on that side of the freeway (I was on the other side,) were turning around and driving the opposite way on the highway.

I hate chicago traffic, which is why I walk to the L every day.

I lived in the SW burbs for a time, and the stevenson expwy (not pictured) was enough to make you want to poison yourself

and ATL traffic is also some of the worst I've ever experienced.
definitely a car-oriented city and not particularly planned well.

This was taken literally three miles from my house. This was taken at The Woodlands Parkway and I-45. I think that this is the worst traffic of any of the pics posted thus far. I know, I sat in it for 21 HOURS and only went 180 miles. It took us 6 hours to go 5 miles!!!!

Wow... I still can't believe the stories from some people. It's like NO-ONE in Houston knows what a backroad is!!! On Wed. night, I got out of the city (from UH Central campus to near Cleveland, TX) in less than one hour b/c I did not get on the choke-way. Made it all the way to Little Rock, AR in 10 and 1/2 hrs... only 1 1/2 hr. longer than the normal trip.

Ok, it isn't in the big leagues for bad traffic, but here is a problem that Atlanta and Houston don't have to deal with - icy roads at a standstill, this is Calgary last February. We don't get very much snow, but the little we get becomes sheer ice on pavement.

I work in the burbs and live in the city. In the morning I am against traffic, but in the evening I got to sit atleast 45 minutes sometimes for the morons going home to their exurban housing plans well I drive toward my apartment near the tunnel.

I just love this picture of the 405 it makes me feel all fuzzy inside. You can just see the chaos of typical L.A. traffic.

Also to answer the HOV comment. The 405 doesnt have carpool all the way. I have seen them extend it up to about the 90 to marina del rey going North. But going south it seems to have it for the larger part of it. All the way past Irvine.
