Pretty good shots for having been taken in a car on the go. Glad to see a little Galveston since I missed it when I was there in June. Thanks!

The beach view skyline shot of Galveston is wonderful! Was it taken from the ferry?

I was just in Galveston yesterday for a little end of summer vacation.

Galveston is looking nice. That new condo highrise on the coast really stands out. I wonder how well it will weather storms over time? Thanks for the tour.

^Oh to be at the beach...

Does anyone know the name of that highrise just to the left of the church steeple?

Nice job. Taking shots from the freeway is no easy task, at least not for me anyway!

Houston has some of the most bland and ugly skylines. I like a lot of the buildings individually, but they just don't work together.

Houston has the best skyline in America. The buildings look good individually and they look good together. I have to say the best perspectives are from the west or the north.

Wow, bland??? That's one term that is generally not applied to Houston... I can see ugly (not my opinion of course), but never bland. Our skyline is certainly no Tokyo or New York, but for its size, it's a dynamic collection of buildings.

Bland?? Houston skyline kicks butt!! Nice shots! Galveston skyline sure looks different from when I was there in the mid 80's! Stayed at the Sandpiper, which I'm sure has been mowed down by now.

What isn't bland about Houston's buildings (bar BOA, Williams Tower, Heritage Plaza)? For the most part, I'm talking about downtown. There's far too many drab buildings that haven't dated nicely. I enjoy Uptown's buildings much more.

While you are definitely entitled to your opinion....are you kidding?! :haha:

While Houston's urbanity is always up for debate, the city and its downtown undoubtedly has one of the greatest collections of architecture gems (both hidden and visible) of any big city in the US.

If anything, Uptown Houston is bland. Without its three tallest buildings, Uptown is nothing more than a dense suburban office park with tons of bland condo buildings and a mall.

New to the forum here. Moving to Houston as soon as I can sell my place. Houston's revival is making me want to live there and I love the greenery there.

Regarding the skyline shots, this particular angle is pretty well known for not being impressive, so I think the critic might be making a judgment without considering the other angles. There are other angles that are very impressive and that I've seen in a lot of photos. I've seen several in this forum while browsing a bit. Regarding the poster who said something about Uptown condos being bland, I totally disagree (except for the Mercer building). Maybe there are some good photos on this forum of the new Uptown condos. Haven't found them yet.
