It seems that Ottawa did not had good reviews for infrastructure conditions following the Ontario Games. One particular area that had received criticism is the Terry Fox Athletics facilities where the conditions of the track and field is considered as poor. I've also heard though that the Nepean Sportsplex received good reviews. Though in 2014 a Commonwealth Games bids was a complete failure because it was ranked last for infrastructure facilities.
So if the city wants to host the World University Games, the Commonwealth Games, the Canada Games, the Francophone Games or even the Olympics, they would really need to start doing repairs and also add new facilities. Lebreton Flats would be a good spot for some of that., perhaps Rockliffe AFB, perhaps in the Lansdowne redevelopment. Gatineau could also have its share with perhaps the future Gatineau waterfront (old Domtar and soon the future vacant Scott site)perhaps also the vacant land near the Gatineau Sports Complex.
Though I would love to see a bid from the city for the 2020 or 2024 Summer Games. This is the kind of stuff that force the city to speed up transit improvements.
